What was funny was watching an SF MSG who lived off-post buying a pink Cricket .22 rifle for his daughter have to get the Company Commander to sign a permit for it, and then register it with the MPs before he could pick it up and take it home. Hey, the prices are not very good, and you have to deal with the usual on-post red tape. I would skip it and buy from a local store like Ed's. TR |

She still wants a pink .22 pistol though. Eventually I will be forced to purchase a pink gun. I'm holding hard as long as I can though. :D |

MacDill AFB sells them and they have a good discounts too! :D
I didn't have to go thru any red tape here. Just had to leave base immediately with a time stamped receipt. It was an easy and pleasing process. The hardest part was picking the gun. |
I'm glad my wife hates pink :p

On Base Purchases
I still have my Sig P226, which I purchased in West Germany and became the Importer for that weappon into the USA. Except that I had to keep it locked in the unit Arms Room, there was no hassle of any sort. Registered with Provost Martial and eventually brought CONUS. A very pleasant and friendly experience.
Fast forward to just a few years ago, I had the AAFES rep explain to me everything I had to to to purchase something on base in the States. Needless to say I told him to forget about it and went off base to make my purchase. Absolutely amazing that the military command views Privately Owned Weapon as a near insane idea. |

Jim's is still there...and still lacking any sense of integrity. It's bad when there reputation precedes them all the way to New York...I stick with Minuteman Tactical, Shooters on Bragg, and Ed's. |
