Let's just hope people don't overreact on the ammo again.

I would think the last "stockup" has pretty much everybody in good shape...

Notice how “events” always happen to start the Left’s efforts to enact draconian legislation – “assault weapons ban, hi-capacity magazines, The fairness doctrine, etc.
Acting in a “civil manner” by politicians is the new censorship.

And the flip side of that was in 2002 "hell we haven't had a depression since 1930. We don't need all this regulation".

IMO The mortgage bubble had a lot to do with originators working on commission. Really hard to say, "naw, you don't qualify" when with a little nudge here and a typo there and a wink to the underwriter it was not all that hard to collect that $500 per $100,000 in value. Lots of motivation. And the sheer volume of business.

here's to thoughtful moderation in all things.

So true,

I had a few friends who used to work in the mortgage industry and who used to make a lot of money but not anymore.

Dozer,
No doubt some of that is true. However, I strongly believe that the Barney Franks / Chris Dodd collusion with Freddie / Fannie, plus the “push” of some “special interest groups” on Bankers to make “Home Ownership a Right” were the primary causes of the national housing meltdown.
In a word – it was “POLITICAL” – but in moderation :D

Ditto those '08 mag purchases.

It's a slippery slope layered with fresh manure. How many rounds "makes sense" and how many farts per hour is acceptable?

I see more hi-cap mags in my near future too, as soon as I return to someplace that allows them.

When you put the two comments above together it isn't a pretty picture.:D
I think that the hi-cap magazine ban is not going to become law, but just to be careful it can't hurt to have more magazines, or ammo for that matter.

I was taught home ownership falls under the "Pursuit of Happiness" clause. So it is ingrained in America that homeownership is the American Dream or a big part of it.
Unfortunately, when it went from "A" home to "THAT" home and from "SOMEDAY" to "RIGHT NOW" it got messed up.

I was taught that the nicest thing a banker can say to a client is ,"No, not now. But, if . . . then." No one ever suffers from being (legitimately) turned down for a loan. And the "next house ,when it is the right house, is always better".
