Criteria include violent crime, unemployment, foreclosures and abandoned housing, taxes, commute times, weather, superfund pollution sites, and sports teams (when applicable).
If the list was for North America, Toronto would definately have to be near the top. Violent crimes seem to happen everyday, not too many good paying jobs to be had, land taxes just went up 4% plus a whole bunch of new service fees, the weather is crappy on a good day and the Jays just suck too.

And while the above is bad, what would really launch us to the top can be summarized in two words: THE LEAfS.

Looks like Ohio is, overall the shittiest place to be . . .

Red Flag 1 02-19-2010 15:23

Not in any of them, I like it that way.

How did Washington DC not wind up on the list, politics alone should have done it .

Kansas City, MO has some interesting areas but it isn't that bad. St. Louis, Chicago, Philadelphia, Memphis they all pale in comparison to DC, it is the worst city I have ever visited.

Just out of curiosity, business trip or pleasure in DC?

I've been to DC a few times to visit friends and enjoyed it. Memphis on the other hand... I will say though, I hated not being able to CCW in DC.

It is. I'm desperately trying to escape. By moving to Texas, I would save over $8,000 a year in state and local taxes.

So where is the _________ist who can explain the trends and composition of Ohio cities that creates a situation of suck.....I mean misery?

Before Dozer jumps in and suggests a proctologist....let me clarify by saying a sociologist, economist or perhaps even a historian. My general understanding would come from the loss of industry and jobs but apparently it goes deeper than that as overall governance, labor movement and draft picks seem to add fuel to the fire so-to-speak.

They elected Dennis Kucinich as Mayor of Cleveland in 1977, and he quite literally bankrupt the city and drove business out of the state. :(

I'm not too shocked to see Miami up there, I heard Florida was in the top 5 as far as unemployment goes. Also happens to be the 3rd highest prison population, and a few cities came up on that 'most dangerous cities'. I'm too distracted by the perks to be worried about the bad, if I were in Chicago, I would be a popsicle, unemployed, and maybe a little more bored than I would out here.
