Looking to reacquaint myself with both the active and retired SF community

Been missing the SF life/camaraderie since retirement, doesn't help to be in NH, and want to get re-acquainted with the community, and maybe come into contact with a few old team mates/buddies through this site.

Sounds promissing.

Welcome to PScom. Hope to see a couple of good personal histories. Again Welcome

Intro

I've been bouncing around this site for a while and decided to jump on board. I figure I may be able to help contribute to the conversation and offer something those that may want it. I just retired after 30 years in SF and am still involved in the community as a contractor. I started as an SF Baby, graduated the SFQC when I was 19, and retired as a CSM. It was a long road, but it went by in a flash.

Hello Gents.

This is a great site, thanks for letting me be a guest. I'm a USMC Capt, been with an ANGLICO unit for about 3 1/2 years now and was with an arty battery for a couple of years before that. Here to read and learn.

Introduction

Hello,

My name is SPC T., G.J. I have been a member with PS since May of 08'. I have spent several hours reviewing some of the discussions that have been posted and have gathered a lot of great information. I first joined the Army in Aug. of 98' as a 13B and was stationed in Ft. Wainwright, AK with the 172nd. After my term I got out and became a civilian employee. While doing the 9 to 5 track I began to miss a lot of what the military had to offer. Granted, there are things that can be substituted in the civilian world, but you either have to pay a large amount for the activity or it just doesn't seem the same. I then decided to join the California National Guard in Dec. of 06' as a 92R with the 128th QM. Due to my prior service MOS I was put onto a deployment rooster and deployed within 2 months of signing up. The guard unit I was attached with, I was told I was too gun ho or high speed. Nothing against the National Guard but I liked the structure that the Active Duty provided. I saw things as just doing my job and some individual's frond upon it. Luckily, when we got into country we found out that we had been attached to SOCOM. Going Special Forces has always been a dream of mine since my first term. The only thing that held me back then was my inability to research information. Now that I am older and have more life experience I had realized that I still had an opportunity to fulfill my original goals. When I first signed up with the National Guard I started to think that I was different. But being deployed with SOCOM made me realize that I am not different, I just signed up for the wrong job. After returning home I found out that my unit had been re-organized to B Company 1106 TASMG. Nothing wrong with that but I didn't sign up to be a mechanic. Since the unit has to reclass everyone, they gave us the opportunity to change units or go Active Duty. As I start to see things fall into place I can see that life is pushing closer to what I really want. While reading information on this site I found a great resource. Get Selected for Special Forces: Major Joe Martin with MSG Rex Dodson. As you can guess I have already started to fallow the plan described in Appendix A. I would like to thank all that have made the choice that I am about to make and I hope that I will be able to become apart of America's best. It is an Honor to be a member.

Thank you.

Hello all,

I have been trolling around here for quite some time, but have been busy, and therefore, haven't introduced myself. I found out about the site from others around Group, so it was nice to know other like-minded individuals are represented on the error-net as well. If I can contribute info, knowledge, or anything else, I will certainly try, as I've received some good info from this place. Thanks.

My Introduction

Hi! My name is Kevin and I was assigned to the 550th Military Police Detachment of the 8th Special Forces Group in 1971. I was not originally airborne, but attended the course with the 8th. I then began attending the paperflash classes, but failed to complete due to deciding to choose ETS over reenlistment. I then returned to college and completed undergraduate and graduate school at the University of Illinois. I have been a practicing psychotherapist since 1978, 31 years. I served under LTC Ronald Lucas and SGM Arnheiter, maybe some will remember them. Finally, I was present when the changeover to 3rd of the 7th took place. Please ask if you have any question, and I hope I have now gotten off on a better foot.

Respectful hello to all,

I am an active duty infantry MSG of 15 years. I stumbled onto this site a few months back and have been gaining a lot of good knowledge and alternate methods other than my own. Currently on assignment for a transition team to go back to the sandbox late summer. Always like working with SOF, they are always willing to help you out with anything, be it training, intel or gear. Stay safe.

Hello all,

I used to be an Artillery guy on active duty and was in OIF III. Afterwards, I reclassed to 11b and am in the National Guard while I work on my degree. I have school to worry about now, but would like to challenge myself in the future.

Pretty much all of my questions are already answered. Thanks for all you guys do and thanks for the great info!
