Welcome aboard. There are some other very good knife makers to check out here also. The best part of this place is learning about other things that would not be discussed very often or with much accuracy elsewhere. |
Introduction
Salutations,
My name is JB. I am a recent college graduate who majored in Political Economy and Arabic at the University of Washington. My military background is essentially non-existent, but I did come from a military family. My father was West Point class of 1970 and spent 22 years in the army until he passed away in 1992. Essentially, I grew up as an "army-brat," but only until I was 6. I did also apply to West Point and was accepted with congressional nomination under their Early Action program, but was disqualified for particular reasons. Recently, I started the enlistment process to joining the army under the 18x program and trying for special forces. I believe that I am pretty aware of what the mission of and what special forces are and I am not doing this faintly or with ignorance. About three weeks ago, I took the ASVAB and scored very well. Tomorrow, I go to MEPS for medical screening. From there, I will take the DLAB and have my packet complete for a a late-summer ship date. Thank you very much for all the information on this site. Have a great day, JB |
Hello,
I heard of this site through a friend after I signed my 18X contract. As my profile says, I come from a bit of a military background, with my father being a bomber pilot in the USAF and my uncle being active duty Army SF (He is currently instructing at the Kennedy Center). I would like to thank the QP's and the other people in charge of this forum for such a valuable resource, and I look forward to interacting with you in the future. No name if you're thinking of going SF.... Team Sergeant |

Hello
I'm a analyst by trade in the Air Force; currently have the added bonus that my office is also on the jet. I found this site while researching firearm information. For the most part I'm a lurker.

Hello
Greetings Brother Paratroopers,
I'm Marcus. Half-Breed Chippewa from Leech Lake Indian Reservation (Northern Minnesota). Served 84-87 in 307th Med (I hear it's called 307th FSB now) and am Freefall Qualified by way of training the 82nd (those who took the same path must know LTC M. Kim and MSG Willie G.). Got loaned out to WAY too many units at Bragg, including 5th (but am not Sierra-Qualified). Had to get out of the Army due to a "slight issue" with a freefall in 87 that left me in bodycasts and wheelchairs for a year. Went back to college on the Army's $$$ and got 2 degrees, Business Admin and Computers. I've been designing and building computer networks for over a decade now. Tried to go back in last year, but they turned me down upon seeing my x-rays  I make it back to Bragg every so often. Was shocked that Hay Street has been changed into office space now :( Anytime I'm at Bragg, I can be found stuffing my face at either of the Waffle Houses on Yadkin near the mall (are they still across the street from each other? What stupid planning!) Found this site while looking for my old 1st SGT Jim Erickson. Last I heard, he was at Pre-Scuba in the late 80s. Any info on him would be greatly appreciated and rewarded with lots of beer. Thanks, -SGT Marcus |

SGT Marcus, Unless you went through MFF taught by Special Forces Advanced Skills Dept. you are not MFF "Qualified". (If you did attend SF MFF you have a MFF number on your SWC Certificate of Training.) You got a MFF number or are you a just a "skydiver? Team Sergeant |
Thanks for a great resource
Enlisted sept. 08 in the Ms. national guard 20th group training detachment. Under an 18x option I leave in March to enter the pipeline. This forum has been a well of knowledge for anyone interested in SF. Thanks

New Intro
I stumbled onto this site from a web search and have found a lot of good info on lineage and past postings of units from the Regiment. I am currently in between 10th Group assignments and looking forward to getting back into the swing. Thanks for putting together a great source of info.

Hey Girl, glad you came out of the shadows to say hello! Be safe out there! And good luck to hubby! |
Great site, nice job gentlemen! I’m just a simple FA officer who was fortunate enough to spend a year running around Afghanistan with ODAs from 3rd SFG and 7th SFG. I can’t say enough about the good times we had and the things I learned from them. Thanks all!
