Go here and read, pay close attention to Rule # 10. I don't expect to read anymore of your posts, at least not for the next 6-8 months. You now have my attention. Now move out and draw fire. Team Sergeant |
Former Jarhead
All,
I am a former Marine, who served with 4th and 3rd Light Armored Reconnaisance Bn as a rifleman scout. I was in Kuwait and Iraq from February 2003 - November 2003. After honoring my contract with Uncle Sam, I finished college and got a BS in Kinesiology from UMCP, but somehow ended up as an IT geek. My civilian job is a Cisco network engineer. I also joined the Virginia National Guard as a 25B, information systems operator. However, I was unhappy with sitting around and doing nothing or hiding from the 'hey you' working parties. Because of this, I recently tried out for the 20th SF Group in Glen Arm, MD and was transferred there. I am hoping to reclass as an 18E. Outside of my civilian career, I spend most of my time running, lifting weights, humping/rucking (1-2 times a week), doing muay thai, and grappling (no-gi). I love training and would rather train harder now, so it is easier later. Outside of training and work, I try to allocate as much time to my wife as possible she does not grab me by the 'short and curlies' and PULL. I figure I would need her support in my future endeavors. -Joe |

Welcome All! And Thanks for your Service
MM |
Good Evening,
My military career was short and rather unspectacular. I joined the Army as a 19D right out of high school. About 14 weeks into my 16 weeks of OSUT I suffered a compound fracture of my left tibia that completely destroyed all those small, yet very important, components in my knee. Uncle Sam decided I could no longer meet “fitness” standards and sent me packing. Not what I had hoped for, but no one asked my opinion. I put that GI bill to good work and got a BA in Political Science from UCCS. To make sure I didn’t use my degree the way I had planned I now work for a large auto insurance company as an injury claims adjuster. Never a dull moment! More than anything I am a father to two great kids and husband to a wonderful woman. I enjoy pretty much anything outside and fortunately I live in a place that we can be outside year around. I plan on doing a lot more reading than posting. Better to be silent and thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt. To all of you that are currently serving or served in the past I thank you for all that you and your families have sacrificed. -Davin |
Welcome Gent's!
djm0039, You at least made an effort. What happened to you could have happened to any one of us. Welcome aboard. Team Sergeant |
rcm_18d intro
My name is Ryan (Admin edit, you don't need to use your last name)). I spent 13 years in the Army, all in Special Forces. I began as a support guy and went to selection and the Q-course to become an 18D. I was very fortunate to be assigned to Stuttgart, GM with 1-10th SFG(A) for my first assignment. At the time that was defiantly the place to be. I then PCSed to Ft. Carson and, timing is everything, was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time for the invasion. After OIF II, I got out and became a Triple Canopy contractor. I worked for about 4 years as a contractor overseas with TC, SAIC, and MVM. I enjoyed the money and sometimes the job. I did miss my family. I am now a Navy contractor working on a NEK contract in Gulfport, MS teaching the Blue Navy combat skills. I spend all my free time with my family making up for lost time. I have a great wife, 8 y/o daughter, and a 3 y/o son. It will be good to catch up with old buds and participate in some of the discussions.

Introduction
Hi, my name is SPC Exxxxxxx. I am 32 and currently stationed at Fort Polk with 4th BCT 10TH Mtn. I recently dropped my SF packet and am looking at attending the April SFAS class. I have been running and rucking my ass off, not too mention pull ups, pushups, etc. It has always been an aspiration of mine to be part of the Spacial Forces community. I think it is kind of cool that my wife is the one who is pushing me to fulfill that aspiration...lol Anyways, what I am really looking for more than anything is any adice, tips, or thoughts that will help me. I am not known for quitting. The only way I will quit is if I have to be carried out on a stretcher. But, I know there are alot of seasoned veterans from SF here so anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your service and professionalism!
Don't need your last name out in public, you have a long road to travel yet |
Greetings,
My name is Tim, I have been in the process for the last 8 months of transferring from the National Guard to Active Duty to join the SOF community as a 37F. I am looking forward to working in support and along side several of you. I am open minded, thick skinned, and ready to learn. |
Introduction
Fellow Warriors,
I was a young Weapons Sergeant (18B) and Communications Sergeant (18E) in the 5TH SFG during the Reagan Administration. The years that I spent in 'group' were some of the most adventurous and meaningful of my life. I traveled to exotic places and got to do exciting things. There is a camaraderie in SF that doesn't exist anywhere else and at times I miss it. My experiences there taught me more about life, people, and the World than any professor ever did in college. In joining professional soldiers I hope to reconnect with other SF veterans and perhaps revisit some of the glory of my youth. |
Welcome All.......:D

Hey
My name is Tom but close friends call me T-Bone (my call sign when I was on flight status). Here is how I got to where I am today. After a year of college I decided that it wasn't working well. I then joined the US Army. I told the recruiter I was interested in SF. He said, "I've got a deal for you, join the 82nd ABN as an infrantryman. SF is just across the street and it is no problem to transfer." Well, after 18 months or so in the 82nd I reupped (they let you do that in the early 70s) and went to 91Q Pharmacy Tech school then on to the 9th Inf. There I met a SF medic. We became friends (everyone else was legs) and he got orders back to Ft. Bragg. A few weeks later I received orders back to the 82nd. Instead of signing in I went over to Gary; he was in the 5th Grp. Gary took me over to the S1 NCO who called DA and worked some magic and my orders were changed and I was assigned to A/3/5 ODA-576. It was interesting. Go on an FTX with the team, then off to Phase 1 of the Q course. Go on an FTX with the team, then 300-F1. You get the drift. After a little over a year I finished Phase 3. This was the mid 70s by now and I went on a number of training missions but never deployed overseas. At the end of '78 after a lot of thought I decided to get out and go back to school. At the University of Arkansas using my GI bill things went well. I was accepted to medical school and went on a USAF scholarship. First assignment was to Scott AFB for family practice residency then to Hickam AFB for 4 years as a flight surgeon. Once again after lots of thought I decided to get off active duty. I found a full time job as an ER doc and joined the ARANG 188th Fighter Wing in Fort Smith AR (F-16s at that time). A great unit. Currently I'm in the inactive reserves (physicians are subject to recall until age 60). I practice family medicine in a small town in SW MO and still work a few ER shift (when they beg real hard). I found this site when I googled "nous defions". This is an interesting place on the 'net and hopefully I can be a asset here. T-Bone |
