Overlap

Hearing the timeline described of tracking OBL made me think of the Raymond Allen Davis mess. I can only imagine the motivation to settle both without screwing the pooch on the other.

Elton John to release new song for Bin Laden " Sandals in the Bin "

Main points.

-OBL was hiding in Abbottabad 50 km northeast of Islamabad ( the article say its 56km) , and 150 km east of Peshawar.

-OBL was hiding in a new building ~5 years , that thought was made for his hiding.

-Operation took place around 0100-0200 (GMT) Sunday.

-Operation tooK 40 minutes, ended by the killing of OBL, his Son , and body guards.

-The article mention the use of helicopters in the attack, and the down of one.

I seem to remember another raid conducted back in 1970 in the suburbs of Hanoi, including a "downed" helo in the compound.....uncanny resemblance!:D

As my Mom used to say about such situations, "Good riddance to bad rubbish."

Speak for yourself with that PC BS, Bro. I say flush that MF out with the rest of the shit. I hope the sharks eat him and shit him out. Then smaller fish in succession all the way down to the plankton.
Such unnecessary hyperbole only lends itself to feeding our enemy's "narrative" and makes us appear further from our openly declared national ideals than we are...or should be. IMO those ideals remain a valid goal and should not be treated by any of us like some sort of antique piece of furniture which is nice to talk about and show off, but too fragile for us to use.

Credit for what, sitting behind a desk making a decision which by all rights should be made at the tactical level to begin with...
Invading a sovereign nation should never be a "tactical level" decision.

I very strongly disagree that his long term record of hesitancy and inability to commit to a decision or plan or strategy or policy has been counteracted by what for a President is an easy win. He has no skin in the game on this one. If it works out well, he grabs some popularity rating points, if it doesn't, well, he was just following the path that previous Presidents had laid.
Disagree. One of the incontrovertible rules of command - good or bad, when it happens on your watch, you own it. Ask JEC about that one when deciding upon such a course of action at that level of command.

On NPR this morning, the reporter recounted an encounter she just had that went something like this:

Paki citizen: Aren't you worried about the US bombing us?
Reporter: Why aren't you worried about OBL being right here?

Guess it's about point of view, yes?

I'd still like to SEE OBL dead. That way he won't end up in Argentina with Hitler ;)

Utah Bob 05-02-2011 09:32

He's dead alright. I felt a disturbance in The force.;)
