Introduction

Hey everyone. My name is Mike, and I am a 20 year old Specialist currently deployed in support of OIF. I came here after reading "GET SELECTED", and have in the past few days read it twice. I am in the process of completing my physical, and hope to attend SFAS upon redeployment. I am here to learn anything and everything I can that may give me the extra edge. I am not a combat arms soldier, so I will take any and all advice I can get. I am currently working out as much as possible, and have begun rucking, as well as sharpening up as much as possible on land navigation.

(not so) BigBro
I would suggest you fill out your profile and read all of the stickies before posting again. I am the nice one, wait until you meet the not so nice QPs.
Take it or leave it, just a friendly suggestion.

Hello to the Team

Found this site while looking at the SOCNET site.

Started out in ROTC then to AD in Army Hospitals in Germany 4 years. Got out...resigned commission...requested reappointment with (finally!) assignment to 12th SF Svc Co and attachment to 2/12 Forward MedOps Team then Group Med Platoon Leader for 4 years. Got hooked by way of the 3/12 into 351 CA in Mt. View CA with assignment to SOCPAC team as Pub Health Officer....never deployed but then recruited to be Div Surgeon in the 95th Div. Did that for several years...thought I should get back to the AMEDD so on to the 44th Evac.....bored silly. So, was to be assigned SOCOM Surgeons Office as IMA 60W5G...DS-DS started...all assignments frozen...I died there, couldn't move, then was "retired" at MRD.

Really enjoyed my military educational development...C4, exercise planning demands, casualty management requirement on DZs, my own jumps, etc.

Now I'm a civilian 60W, Beretta guy, jeeper, and member of the SFA.

Really happy to find this site. It's one of the few ( if only) site where the 12th Group is able to communicate again.

Welcome Skydoc.

Keeping in touch with SF brothers was one of the main ideas for this site.;)

Dear Respected Members of the Special Forces Community,

Hello. Please let me introduce myself: I am native of the state of Ohio, as well as a college student currently studying Arabic (mostly Modern Standard with small amounts of colloquial thrown in). It is my intention to obtain an 18x contract in the near future and compete to be a member of your prestigious group; in fact, I’ve just started the process with my recruiter. I realize that it is a long and arduous road ahead, but I hope to do my best, acquit myself in a professional manner, and, God willing, one day stand shoulder to shoulder with you. Thank you tremendously for this invaluable resource.

Respectfully,

Eniteo

Introduction

Hello everyone. My name is Charles and I am currently considering a career in the Army. While growing up, my parents strongly discouraged any type of military service. When I moved out of my parents house and away from their influence I began to regret that I had never served, but at that time at that I was not fit for service. I had been raised to be mouthy, arrogant, rebellious and convinced of my own infallibility. In short, I was a punk. I could have enlisted, but honestly the Army would have probably sent me packing and I wouldn't have understood why. Well, five years have passed and I am happy to say that I am not the person that I once was.

I am here to learn more about the Army Special Forces. I specifically want to determine if the Special forces and I would be a good match. I will be mostly reading at first, not posting. I welcome any advice, criticism, comments or questions. Thank you for letting me be here, for the information that has already assisted me and thanks in advance for any and all future help that I will receive.

Greetings

I learned of this site from a fellow 12th grp'er. Many of us have been able to stay in touch thru emails over the years, but as is the case, some have fallen off the radar. As time goes on, one can hope they hear of this site also and join so we can reconnect. As soon as I reviewed the site; sent a code burst to all the members of Chapter L, so expect to see an increase in new members soon. To those who know me. Most of my weekdays are spent traveling and my weekends skydiving. My usename here is the same as on dropzone.com and have sent this site to several fellow skydivers that are former, active, retired SF. To those who created the site; my gratitude.

Hello all. This looks like a great site to shoot the proverbial crap. My name is John and I am currently in Germany. I look forward to reading some of these posts.

Welcome

Never mention rapple master here . It is a status that many here have failed to achieve and in trying sacrificed all........ .....Just joking.

Welcome to this board, AKA... My escape, Mi Cueva, My link to sanity, Proof of once having a life, Almost like having real Friends and most of all a place to find Professionals . Thank you and your son for the service you have provided this country, That service will never be lessened of forgotten here.

Thank you for this opportunity. I was directed to these forums by a SF recruiter – am I to understand there is only one gentleman fulfilling this role? If so, it seems overcautious not to mention names but I'll err on the side of caution.

I am a prior service member, spent just under 4 years in the military and it was not a good fit for me or for the Army. I am currently completing my masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology (the psychology of people in work groups and motivation) and one of my classmates suggested that I use Special Forces in a purely theoretical proposal for research.

My main goal here is to learn from this community and to represent SF respectfully and accurately in my paper without violating PERSEC or OPSEC. (And maybe I can find out what happened to my favorite SF DS along the way?)

Hello the Forum –

Name's Chris Long. Originally from Michigan now in Washington State. Served in the 7th SFGA and USASFT back in the '70s as an XO and Team Leader. Retired in '92 and now work for the state.

Learned about this site from "Get Selected" which I picked up at the FT Lewis clothing sales store a few weeks ago. Good book and good site. Hope to catch up with a few old friends.

Chris
