Eat 'em up Gators, Eat 'em up!

You're on the outside looking in this year. If my Lions run the table, and either Texas or Bama stay undefeated then enjoy your Sugar bowl trip.

By the way RL with the Phils winning the Series this area is unabashed bedlam. I was at Chickies and Petes for game 4 and it was insane. Birds, Lions, and Phils: trifecta of victory! :lifter

Baylor is next

Sorry Tech fans. No "guns up" on Saturday. Texas is already looking forward to Baylor next week. "hook'em"

Really? Looks like they were looking forward to Baylor and got caught.

Watched the Texas/TT game last night. WOW..... Tech has some big boys up front :lifter but I still don't see 'Bama as a number 1.

Season ain't over yet!

Well so much for an undefeated season and a clear path to the Nat'l Championship. Gotdangit, was I freakin mad last Saturday! Then again...

Lets watch and see how this young Texas team (5 Sr. starters on O/4 Sr. starters on D) continues to rise to the challenge...Only poll that counts is the final season poll
With the way this season has progressed and several teams "#1" teams falling from the unbeaten ranks does any one else out there think the BCS division should have a playoff system?
Why not take the top three teams in each Div 1-A conference and watch them beat each other up? Plenty of money to go around for the schools, TV, Conferences and sponsors.

Shans84 11-06-2008 12:49

NOOOOOOOO

texas...fight...WAH!!! I am so disappointed :(

With as many bowl games as there are now it is pretty close to that...you just have to expand upon it and actually put together the winners somehow.
Problem with pulling the top 3 from each conference is that not all conferences are built alike....Would you limit the Big-12 or SEC to only 3 teams and then have 3 Big East or WAC teams??

Lothar 11-07-2008 01:34

Ret10Echo,

I see your point. Maybe the top one/two teams and then an at large bid determined by some sort of computer gee whiz math formula/poll? Also not all conferences have a championship game which adds to the toll lots of games place on the body. Not to mention that the student athletes have finals for which they need to prepare.;)

What about a cross regional pairing that takes the top eight teams in one region up against the other? You expand the weekly rankings 1-32. Midwest vs South and East vs West? Mix that up every year. Rank them 1-8 and play the games like basketball does for March Madness?

I think the only real way to get it put together is to come up with some sort of statistical analysis.....Team production in various categories in comparison to opponents...throw it all into the pile. Multiply that by some rating factor based upon the overall conference level-of-play.

There does need to be some sort of regional application since you could end up with all the teams in the "tournament" coming from a couple of conferences only.

Probably take the selected teams and work them through the Bowl series as it stands (sort of) but the issue of adding another several games and preparation time would be problematic. The cash income for the schools would be pretty good. Not sure about how the other bowl games would suffer if the focus would shift to a better championship type series.

Well, it should be interesting to see how the standings shake out after this weekend.

So who is your #-1? Is it the Alabama team that had to go to OT in order to make it past 16th ranked LSU or the Texas Tech team that just disassembled a #8 Oklahoma State team?

Joe PA and the boys will most likely go into freefall after their loss...

Texas and Florida bump up...

1: Texas Tech
2: Alabama
3: Texas
4: Florida
5: Oklahoma
6: USC
7: Penn St

Goggles Pizano 11-09-2008 07:35

Well! Nothing like controlling your own destiny and flubbing it!
I don't think we should fall too far, and I can't see how they place Florida so high, or USC. I'd say Texas and OK earned 3 and 4. Bama and TTech should remain 1 and 2.

1. Alabama
2.Texas Tech
3.Texas
4.Oklahoma
5. Florida
6. PSU
7. USC
