"In addition to scenes showing the tail assembly of a downed American helicopter, which Reuters claims indicates some kind of previously unknown stealth capability..."

Not convinced of "new stealth technology", but curious on the type of rotary wing they used. I'm having trouble identifying the tail rotor... Maybe someone here can enlighten us all...:munchin

Don't you live relatively close to a certain aircraft company started in a Red Barn? ;)
They needed to get *something* out of the money sunk into technologies gleaned from a heli program of theirs that was cut/canceled a while back.
I'm dismayed Army Times is adding to the attention this is getting. What part of "Need To Know basis" do they not understand?

My question is, if all helocopters going in where at max load, and one was destroyed, how did all of them fit on to the remaining helos with the extra bodies and dead weight (insert joke here)?

Max Loads??
With the Admiral in the lead Chinook, they only need un-ass the pallet(s) with the lazy boy recliners, appetizers & h'orderves carts and liqueur cabinet.
Additionally, everybody could discard their PFD's, as they were 800 miles from water.
War is tough but the Navy will always be there to cover your 6.

While I was still on active, a buddy of mine told me about a study published by the military stating that the service publications were that biggest source of OPSEC leaks.

Not surprised by the existence of this aircraft. The military spent almost 7 billion developing the RAH-66 Comanche helicopter. Didnt think they were going to let that R&D go to waste.

That's nothing. They spent 9 million to reverse engineer the equipment from the alien craft recovered from Roswell so the President could have a teleprompter that thinks.
Well I see the Chinese will be getting a hold of this supposed new technology here this week...stupidity will eventually be the norm, no wait, it already is.
Well should we leave it there or risk something happening to our Men. I say it was a good call of Rear Admiral Albert Calland to blow it in place. We had F-16 coming out of IBAD and we needed our men out of the Country. Pakistan has been playing the China game for many years. Chinese Military comes in and provides Military Grade “Stuff” and training. Even while USG provides them Monies for Pakistan Defense and ISAF supply trains.
I don't see us getting everything back for days.

Won't do the Chinese much good. The ability to fly backwards combined with a plethora of lead paint will lead to a short life for that bit of plagiarism.

I was going the more subtle route than that in post #4 above... ;)

There is max load...and then there is what the airframe can carry....
