You know, I agree that there is much to decry about the state of our country today. When I see something that upsets me, I tend to be just as critical as anyone else here. But I cannot help but think that it has become just a bit too fashionable to wail and gnash one's teeth about how low we have fallen since the "glory days" of old. It is a flimsy, transparent form of self-aggrandizement for some people, as though they can only make themselves seem virtuous by making everything else seem coarse and base. I'm not saying the author fits into that category, because I don't know anything about him, but it bothers me immensely just the same.
Despite all the bad, I discover something new to love about our country everytime I walk out my front door. The best is yet to come.
