Arabs at War

Arabs at War, Military Effectiveness, 1948-1991 by Kenneth M. Pollack

While it is a somewhat dated book, ending after the first Gulf war it does do a good job of explaining the 5 Ws of Arabs at war. Why they fight the way they do and why their command structure fails to be effective on the modern battlefield.

It does not cover terrorism but is focused on conventional forces.

It covers the wars fought by Libya, Jordan, Egypt. Iraq. Syria and Saudi Arabia.

It's a good read for background info, getting in the mind so to speak.
