I tried to start this thread last night but had a problem with the Orders. I was Martin's 1-1 and wrote the AAR which this citation was based upon.
The rest of the story concerning how we got out is in my Citation as well as my writings in "The Tales. . . " and on my Web Site as "My Longest day." That it certainly was.
Linwood Martin can be found on the Virtual Wall. If some of you have time you may drop a note there. Tuesday will be the 35th anniversary of Martin's death. His daughters occasionally visit the site. That is where I met them.
Two distinguished soldiers standing by with the HF to pull our butts out, (dead or alive) were SFC Robert Howard , MOH amd SSG Fred Zabitowski, MOH.
