Imam and aide shot and killed outside New York City mosque
The imam of a New York City mosque and his associate were gunned down Saturday as they walked home from afternoon prayers. Authorities said the men were shot in the back of the head shortly before 2 p.m. near the Al-Furqan Jame Masjid mosque in the Ozone Park neighborhood of Queens.

I'd be keen to read more background about the imam and where he fell on the militancy continuum and if he was strongly suspected of being underground/auxiliary.
Or not.
I wonder if there's much risk of factional infighting(militant group decapitating leadership of a competing/less/non militant group) for this particular murder and cast blame on external infidel islamaphobia.
Nothing new....Malcolm X in the 60's, Meir Kahane in the 90's...others outside of NYC like Letelier in DC in the 70's....but it would be good to learn the true motivations behind this assassination.
