History information

I finally got my DA Form 20 from the NRPC and was looking at the school / training section.

For Jump School I thought I would find a 1/507 assignment but found
48th Co, 4th Stu Bn (Abn) Ft. Bragg
instead.

I can't find anything on that outfit outside of some re-assign orders from Ft. Benning.

Was this just a paper outfit or did it really exist?

Thanks in advance!

IIRC mine say 45th Co, 4th STU Bn, Fort BENNING. That was 1978. They didn't change to their current designation until years later. (Not sure when - once I left Benning for the last time, I never looked back.)

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Prior to Oct 1985, the BAC was run by the 4th Abn Tng Bn, The School Bde, Fort Benning, GA, and had an HHC and 4 student training companies (42nd, 43rd, 44th, and 45th).

On 23 Oct 1985 the 4th Abn Tng Bn was redesignated 1st Bn, 507th Parachute Inf Rgt with an HHC and 4 companies (A, B, C, and D).

45th Co became A Co; 44th Co became B Co; 43rd Co became C Co; 42nd Co became D Co.

I was Chief, Tower Training Branch, at the time and 6 months later took command of HHC, 1-507th. The first pic is us with the solid Infantry blue 4th Abn Tng Bn flash - the second is us a couple of months later with the blue-bordered and diagonal lightning bolt over white background 1-507th flash after redesignation and gaining regimental affiliation.

1-507th Pic:
