Am I too short?

Hello my name is Alex I am 19 years old and am almost graduated from high school. My dad took me to a Army recruiter last week. I've always wanted to be an Army soldier since I saw movies when I was little. I took the asvab at my school and I got a 54 but my GT is 117. I can do better my school said I might be able to take it again But my biggest problem is my height; I am only 57" tall. My recruiter says he's trying to get me a waiver. I want to be in special forces but my dad says I am too short for that and to try and get into something else. But I don't want to do that. I searched on here for short people but I didn't find much. I know I can do it but you know more. Am I too short?

Army standards

By Army standards you are 3 inches too short.

One of the reasons for minimum and maximum height is gear.

And your weight is how much?

I doubt that they are approving too many waivers right now.

Are you saying you are 4'9", or 5'7"?

At 4'9", you will not be able to negotiate some obstacles or carry certain equipment.

I messed up on changing from feet to inches, I'm 4'11". I cannot get a waiver. Thanks for your input though.

Gear and weapons systems...... I'm sure others are too tall also.
