U.S. Troops Shot During Deadly Attack

Prayers Out..

Quote:
KABUL, Afghanistan - As many as 12 Western soldiers -- including several Americans -- were shot at a military academy near Afghanistan's capital in an attack resulting in multiple deaths, officials said.

U.S. officials told NBC News that most, if not all, of the victims were American. They said a man wearing an Afghan army uniform opened fire at the Camp Qargha training facility, which is based on the design of the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Earlier, a spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force confirmed "fatalities' after "a shooting incident involving ISAF and Afghan troops," but could not confirm the number of victims or their nationalities.

Gen. Mohammmad Zahir Azimi, a spokesman for Afghanistan's Defense Ministry, tweeted in Dari that the gunman was wearing Afghan military uniform and opened fire on Afghan and international colleagues before being shot dead.

Der Spiegel says the seriously wounded BW BG is Michael Bartscher.

The Soldiers in the security detail were a team from my unit. I have no further information on WIA other than one of our guys was in critical condition as of this morning, along with an O4. They just lifted the communications blackout after NOK notification. I'm at another location and information is pretty hard to come by besides open-source.
