Mitch Bacher

This morning, I found out we have lost another Brother. Mitch Bacher has left us. He was one of the funniest guys I have ever met. Mitch and I worked together at SFOT/SFAS back in late '88 to early '91. He will be sorely missed. I do not know any times for services yet. I believe Mike Butts is in contact with his wife and family. RIP, Brother.

I served with Mitch when I was a SOPC in 20th Gp in 96-98. He was the TNG NCO for the SOPC's during this time. He pushed us hard but treated all us fair.
He was a very knowledgeable soldier with a great sense of Humor. One night over a few beers he did his SSG Barnes imitation (Platoon). It was funny as hell. He was a good guy and friend.
RIP Mitch

RIP, Mitch.

While Mitch was running the SOPC program at 20th Group, I witnessed him dress down an officer going through the program. The officer had completed medical school, but not his residency. It was on hold while he was attempting to become SF qualified.

I'm not sure what the officer had done, but Mitch was 'counseling' him. As I passed, I heard him tell the officer "Sir, you have to be the dumbest smart mother f****r I've ever known."

Sorry to hear!

I didn't know this man, but what he stood for and did as a QP has earned my respect already. I found out about his death via a thread on LinkedIn.com this morning in the U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret) Alumni group.

RIP, fellow Soldier. May the wind blow in your hair and the sun ever shine upon you!

(And just out of curiosity, when did he leave SOPC, as I was there from '02-'05).

RIP

Mitch was my Team Sergeant for a while in the late 90's. He was a good man you could always count on, and he definitely knew how to make you laugh. We miss you. Rest in Peace Mitch.
