Holder to Brief Black Pastors on How to Campaign for Obama

lolol How blatant can they be?

http://campaign2012.washingtonexamin...gn-2012/567501

Attorney General Eric Holder, the IRS, and the liberal lawyers at the ACLU will brief several hundred pastors in the African American community on how to participate in the presidential election -- which the Congressional Black Caucus chair expects will help President Obama's campaign.

"We will have representatives from nine denominations who actually pastor somewhere in the neighborhood of about 10 million people, and we're going to first of all equip them with the information they need to know about what they can say and what they cannot say in the church that would violate their 501c3 status with the IRS," Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., told MSNBC today.

"In fact, we're going to have the IRS administrator there, we're going to have the Attorney General Eric Holder there, we're going to have the lawyers' organization from around the country, the ACLU -- all giving ministers guidance about what they can and cannot do," he noted.

Cleaver said they would not tell pastors which candidate to support. They will let them know who to regard as the bad guys, though (hint: not Democrats). "We're going to talk about some of the draconian laws that have cropped up around the country as a result of the 17 percent increase in African American votes," Cleaver said, describing voter ID laws as a form of Jim Crow-style "poll tax" on seniors and black voters.

The CBC chairman is confident that "President Obama is going to get 95 percent of the [African American] vote," and wants to keep that turnout high. "We want to let them know that there is a theological responsibility to participate in the political process, at least in the Judeo-Christian tradition," he said.

Unfortunately the Hatch Act doesn't apply to people like Holder.
Section 7324 of The Hatch Act provides an exemption to the ban on political activities to:

(ii) an employee appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, whose position is located within the United States, who determines policies to be pursued by the United States in the nationwide administration of Federal laws.

They should forget about getting advice from the IRS; just have Holder come & say whatever he wants - he's not going to cause their 501c status any issues. He might be the Easy Button.

He is, however, CLEARLY the guy to have around if one wants to facilitate segmenting, marginalizing, demonizing and fostering class & ethnic hostility.

What? No white pastors are scheduled to be briefed? Only black pastors in the African American community? No hispanics? No Asians? Just those of color? Hmmmm...

And if President Bush's AG had done the same to white christian clergy, what do you believe would be the reaction of Holder, then Senator Obama, the libs, the MSM etc.

What hypocrisy!

AG Holder: Blacks' Sacred Right to Vote in Danger

http://www.politico.com/politico44/2...er-124823.html

Attorney General Eric Holder told a council of African American church leaders Wednesday that the "sacred" right to vote is under assault nationwide, with federal lawsuits and at least a dozen state laws that could weaken — or block — minority access to the ballot box this fall.

Forty-seven years after President Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act, "overt and subtle forms of discrimination still exists," Holder said in a speech before the Council of Black Churches. The twin factors of lingering bias and systematic assaults from the right, he said, means that "for the first time in our [lifetimes], we are failing to live up to one of our most noble ideals" - the right to equal access to the vote.

The brief speech was a call to arms for the black church, which since the days of the civil rights movement has been active in fighting for equal voting right for minorities. Holder, who was warmly received by the audience, told them his office is "aggressively" taking on the task of protecting that right, including challenging several state lawsuits that would overturn key provisions of the Voting Rights Act involving redistricting in Southern states and strict new voter I'd laws that could keep minorities, the elderly and young people of all races from casting ballots in the 2012 election - which analysts expect will be decided by a narrow margin.

(Ensuring that everyone who is qualified can vote "is one of our highest priorities," Holder told the council, adding that during his watch the Justice Department has taken on more than 100 cases involving voting within the past year, "a record number." Since President Bush re-authorized the Section 5 provision of the Voting Rights Act, which requires some Southern states to get federal approval before making broad changes to laws involving voting, "it has consistently come under attack by those who say it is no longer needed."

Holder also rejected conservatives' contention that making it easier to vote invites fraud, a key argument in calling for tougher voter I'd laws. Recalling that protesters and faith leaders faced violence and death to gain that right during the 1960s civil rights movement, Holder called on black churches to mobilize as an ally of the Justice Department, informing the larger community and pushing back against restrictive proposals.

"We have to honor the generations that took extraordinary risks" to guarantee equal access to the polls, Holder said. The nation has made tremendous progress, he added, but "this fight must go on."

Like the ones preventing illegal aliens from voting, or minority white inner-city residents with the NBPP at the door?

Isn't that like Palin's "reload" comment? My sensibilities are bruised.

Bush got credit for something good [in Holder's eyes]...? He'll probably go to the woodshed for that.

I don't know why you guys/gals are surprised at this. This administration has already pissed all over the Constitution, American flag and everything this country stands for. He played illegal and dirty politics to get in office and has broken so many laws and ethics it is imposable to count. And now you are surprised at this? I would be surprised if this thing didn't happen with this administration. And yes I believe Holder the big O and his bunch are as racist as the KKK is. There is no difference between the two other than who they hate.

They don't have to be told how to campaign for him because they can figure it out for themselves.
