SF Dive School

Hey everyone,

So I am a ROTC Cadet in my sophomore year, or MS II year, and have been given the very rare opportunity and received a slot at the Pre - Scuba program and upon graduating that Special Forces Combat Dive Qualification Course. I am very excited for this opportunity, yet naturally also very nervous. I am going with a lot on the line of being the first person in my school to ever go, so I want to represent my school and Cadre with pride and pass the course.

So I guess what I am looking for here is a train up process. As soon as I found out that I had been put up to get the slot I immediately started hitting the pool. But now I received conformation that I got the slot I want to hit the ground running.

I know I really need to get a grip on my breathing and holding my breath. I would just like to hear from people that know more than me about what you think I should do. Also the types of workouts I should do in and out of the pool.


A little to know about me:
- I am an Air Assault grad. So I have gotten my feet wet in school, but i know nothing like this
- I swam competitively for 10 years and stopped when I came to college
- Played water polo for 4 years competitively
- Have an advanced Scuba license



Any help would be greatly appreciated

Holding your breath for 5 minutes will not help you if you don't read the schedule for the shark feeding tank...

CDQC is not PADI

When you get to school pay attention to everything, you may fell that you are not learning anything new, but trust me you will be! I had my PADI cards for 6yr before CDQC and learned more about diving then I did in all my time in PADI. PADI gave me several bad habits that I had to deal with in CDQC. Don't let that be you.
Another thing don't think that it is all in the water. RUN RUN RUN, be a PT stud when you arrive, PERIOD. Don't fallout on morning runs and be fast on all surface swims. Free-style is next to pointless in CDQC and Prep, get Rocket or Jet Fins and swim you back side off to get ready. Fins, if you are not used to them, will kick you A$$ all day. ONE last thing NEVER QUIT, CDQC is a hard school for most guys to get make the most of the chance you were given.
