Insight Technologies,, mini red dot???

I stopped in to my LGS to pick up a new toy. While we were waiting for the ATF to clear the sale (2 hrs))&@^)&#^)&#^@(&^#

He showed me a new mini red dot very similar to the old Hakko/Docter sight. Supposedly new and improved, with a price to drain your pocket(s)...

http://www.insighttechgearstore.com/mrmireddotsi2.html

I came close to buying one years ago, for my 629, when the go-fast pistol crowd started to mount red dots(90t's ??). I figured if they could do a match of 100-200 rounds of major week after week, without braking, they might be worth a try for hunting.

They have now returned as back ups on the primary optics.

Anyone tried one??

How in the heck did you obtain a picture of TS's carry gun?

Seriously, a friend has one on his Colt SBR. He likes it and he's abusive with his equipment. It's still running.

He had the sight mounted on a 10inch SBR, directly on the receiver, in front of the rear sight. It aligned with the iron sights. The optical "view" was better than my M68, as you don't have as much "scope" around the area were you look.

This model comes with a 1911 mount and a schrod that protects the optic.

I have to go back today,, I'll try to get a pic..

Here are some pics I grabbed off the net..

The MRDS passed scrutiny over many other 'Docter Type' dot sights out there.

I liked what I saw and bought one for one of my personal Glocks. Perq of being where you can see and work with high speed gadgets.

The battery compartment is on the top so you don't have to take the thing off the standard Docter base (screwing around with your zero).

Dot is adjustable in brightness and is turned on & off by that switch. 3.5moa and 7moa dots are available, I liked the 3.5.

The windage and elevation adjustments are 'click' as opposed to 'twist with a dial metric on your screwdriver.

It uses 1632 coin batteries instead of the 2032 commonly in use by other dot sights, watches and computers, but IMO that's just a minor problem.

Price? Well, yes they're a bit spendy, but if you look around the web, you can pick up a deal.

IIRC, the BATFE does not approve NICS checks, the FBI does.

If you get a CCW, in most states, it is complete the 4473, pay, and take it home.

That's what it use to be,, But the last three pistols use this new method.

LGS calls gives name, password, licience #.
on hold...
LGS gives everything I put on the form to the agent
on hold...
Normally they put you on hold for a couple minutes,, them give the OK..

LGS is told sorry it's taking so long...
on hold...
There are to many guys named XX with my birthday..
Do I have a ATF PIN number?? maybe I should get one??
on hold..
agent hangs up...
wait
agent calls back and apologizes..
on hold...
I go home after 2 hrs of BS'ing with the owner...

When I went back today, LGS says agent called back about 25 minutes after I left with the OK..

Now my LGS is a one man shop. He manly deals with LEO's and the guys in the DEA shop at Boca Chica,, plus some SA exports.. He does a bunch of class 3..

He & I can sit and BS,, and play with his toys.

Tried some new Gemtech silencer sub-sonic 22 LR in a suppressed Ruger 22. It was the type that shrouds the barrel, rather than screws on the end,, very nice. He has several old vests on the wall that he demos cans on,, in the office..

Anyway, the call and wait process is what we have used for the last 4-5 years??

JJ:

Must be a Florida thing.

You should try buying them in a strawman sale for a felon in another country.

Maybe pay for them with illegal narcotics.

I hear they expedite those, no waiting.
