OIF I VUA for 3-10

The long-awaited VUA for OIF I was recently approved for 3rd Bn, 10th SFG(A). Nearly everyone who was there has either moved on or retired, so if you know someone who fought with the Kurdish Peshmerga to open the Northern Front in Iraq between October 2002 and May 2003 - please pass this on to them.

Thanks,
Off Road

Out of curiosity I would like to know-- is ODA 76 not part of 3rd Bn, or did they just do more than everyone else? Why were they mentioned individually and not the other ODAs.

They are part of 3rd Bn; the specific breakout is to recognize the different times periods for the various elements that went in earlier.

I've been privileged to interact with 3rd Bn, and they are much deserving of this honor!

(ODA 081 didn't do too badly, either! <g>)

Valorous unit award

It was one of the best deployments, but I had just as much fun on OIF II and III. I hear it’s a downer now though. 076 were the very first ones in (Uncle Andy and Cousin Andy) so they deserve and get special mention.

Glad something finally went thru for someone. Submitted a PUC for 040 in 2003 and that was squashed by Group; wasn't even down graded for submission higher or expanded to the rest of the BN, just shredded.

VUA, Detachment, 10th SFG (A)

Hello,
I saw the long-awaited and well-earned VUA for 3/10 but am puzzled as to who Detachment 10th SFG (A) is. Does this mean Group HHC ?? Does anyone know? I saw on the HRC site that a VUA for HHC had been turned in and denied a while back.

Thanks,
Paul

PS I was attached to Group HHC for the duration as an LNO...thus my interest

OIF I

Good to hear they got recognition. I was part of their task force and worked with one of their ODAs. Both them and the guys from 2nd Bn were great. All some amazing professionals. I wonder if any one else in JSOTF-N received anything like this.
