"O" to play basketball in front of Wounded Warriors
Oh thank you so so much for gracing us with your presence... I'm sure that's very inspirational to watch him play basketball..

NewsCore) - U.S. President Barack Obama, who enjoys shooting hoops with family and friends, will take on a couple of tougher -- and much taller --opponents Sunday: the Phoenix Suns’ Grant Hill and the Houston Rockets’ Shane Battier.
The game of presidential pickup will be held at Fort McNair in southwest Washington before an audience of “wounded warriors” and participants in the White House mentoring program, the White House press office said.
Hill told the Washington Post he was in town to play, along with a handful of other pros, including Battier.
First Shooter Obama, at 6’2”, will find some tough competition on the court: Hill and Battier, both forwards, are each 6’ 8”.
It’s been a bachelor sporting weekend for Obama, whose wife , Michelle, and younger daughter, Sasha, are in Spain and whose older daughter, Malia, is away at camp. On Saturday he played golf at Andrews Air Force Base.

How about inviting him and his staff to play combat volleyball with any A Detachment, any group. I'd buy a ticket.

Unfortunately in the civilian world I live it is a sign of the times.....American Idol, Survivor, People Magazine, etc.
Did you hear about Lindsey? You know Tiger had a bad weekend? Do you know what Paris is up to? No I don't, but I bet 40% of the population can tell you and possibly what they had for dinner.
We are becoming a nation of voyeurs in a starry eyed glaze whom are satisfied to gaze in wonder from the seat.
It is sick.

I don't agree with almost everything the POTUS represents. (I say "almost" only because I don't know everything he represents.)
I don't really like the POTUS, "personality-wise"!
However, that said, he is the POTUS. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as to reason, and assume that some of the Wounded Warriors might enjoy the game, if not to see the POTUS, then to see Grant Hill, et al.
YMMV

I am biased, I don't like him, he is arrogant, self-engrandizing and his track record substantiates my feelings. YMMV

That is quite possible, and it is possible warriors were asked if they wanted to watch the POTUS shoot hops with NBA Players. Then again all they have known asked is if you would like to meet POTUS and drink free beer.
Regardless, I still look at it as inviting someone to dinner only to have them watch YOU eat. Or inviting guest to a party then leaving them in a corner as you mingle the rest of the night with others.
If he sit, talked and watched with the warriors, I'd give him two thumbs thumbs up. As it stands, it was a photo op, he was waving and saying hey guys look at me, and I give him at best two thumbs down, but more like likely just the one finger salute.

Instead of spending time at Walter Reed or Bethesda Naval Hospital watching wounded warriors in rehabilitation, praying for them in their rooms out of sight of the cameras, urging them on, and ensuring that they get the best care possible, he is sporting it up in front of them. Get it? He expects them to watch him as he plays a game of fantasy ball with his heroes.
What an egomaniac.

The reading I did indicated he made the media remain outside. I have found NO information on what transpired inside (no interviews with any of the Wounded Warriors, etc.) Granted, if he had invited them all the to "BBQ" at the WH afterwards... I'd give him "props"!
Still, with all I can criticize him about, I am not going to criticize this.

It's worse then even you imagine. Only those confined to wheel-chairs (preferably Basketball lettermen in high School) are allowed to watch. . .
seriously, you guys all try way to hard. sorta like that CPT at Bagram during the election.

Grrrrrrrrrrr, the Semi-Liberal Imbed near St. Louis..........I hate when you have a semi-valid point. I guess you could make the point that it is no different than getting invited by a Cardinals Player to come watch them play. True, but the Cardinals player doesn't have the authority to send you into harms way.

I read the media was outside as well, still nearly every article heading reads something to the effect 'Obama shoots hoops with NBA Stars' and the Wounded Warriors are little more than a foot note.
Based on the headings, one could be left with the impression is that The One was out Hob Knobbing with over paid celebrities and was a poor host. Or maybe 'O' just has a piss poor PR person.
If I was in O's shoes I'd want you come away feeling I spent time with you.......not that you spent time with ME and watched ME play. Which I hope is what happened.

So much hate . . . and now I get a label.
Thank you for illuminating my point.
You're probably a Reds fan anyway.
Wanna talk about being "sent into harms way"? Let's talk about Phillips who made the mistake of mouthing off to Yadi, or anyone (Red or not) who tries to steal second.
GO CARDS!!!
