Stye inside the eye

So toward the end of August I woke one morning and noticed my left eye (lower lid) was red, swollen and painful to the touch. Tried a cool compress (yeah, I know ) and the next day it was worse. Was able to get in to my eye doc, received a prescription for medicated eye drops and within a day or two there was a marked improvement.

However, the stye (which is located INSIDE my lower eyelid, sort of where the flesh meets the eyeball itself) has never gone away. It's annoying since my eye is still a tad puffy/swollen and today my eye doc said she'd like to see me have it removed. I've made an appointment for Thursday morning with the "stye specialist"...it's evidently a fairly simple office procedure.

Has anyone had this, had it removed and in general any idea what I can expect? Will I need a pirate patch, my nieces and nephews will think that is too cool.

Thanks in advance.

I've seen my share of styes over the past few years. Most went away with twice daily warm compresses massaged with firm pressure in a ciruclar motion. It's been the minority that needed to go on to the simple procedure. It's same day, expect to be on some more topical antibiotics afterwards.

Either way, I'm sure things will be fine.

Thanks Doc. I wasn't exactly ahhh...diligent with the warm compresses/massage therapy so I may postpone this procedure for a week and see if that helps...

That's a very safe and reasonable thing to try. No offense to the cutters amongst us, but it's best if things can heal without invasive procedures.
