That is our policy.” You ask; What is our aim? I can answer with one word: Victory—victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.-Winston Churchill

Today in West Virginia:

Flags At Half-Staff For WV Green Beret
Charleston Daily Mail, 21 Sep 2009

Flags at state facilities in West Virginia will be lowered to half-staff in honor of a Green Beret from Bridgeport killed in Iraq.

Gov. Joe Manchin has ordered that all state and federal flags be lowered on Monday in honor of Sgt. Duane A. Thornsbury.

The 30-year-old Thornsbury was killed on Sept. 12 when the vehicle he was traveling in rolled over in Baghdad.

Thornsbury was a native of Clinton, Md., who grew up in Bridgeport and enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1996.

He was a member of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force and earned his Green Beret as a weapons sergeant in 2006.

Manchin's office says Thornsbury will be posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal.
