Another op sec violation and the media?
You be the judge. BTW if mods think this is inappropiate please delet or edit as you see fit. I realize he wasn't with them, but still.
Quote:
WASHINGTON (CNN) — The President's vehicle fondly known as "the Beast" just pulled into the BP gas station on the corner of 13th and N Streets, NW in Washington.
I was filling my own tank when the four-vehicle motorcade pulled up to the station.
The heavily-armored black limousine with license plate #800-002 was unmistakable.
The other black vehicles with their flashing red lights stood by as Secret Service agents jumped out of their vehicles to fill up.
People pumping their gas at the local station looked on incredulously.
The station is a popular neighborhood hangout next to the Mr. Wash full service brushless car wash, and Jerry Chan's Chinese takeout. Cigarettes are sold by the singles, and occasionally the homeless ask for change.
I approached the agent who got out of the car and asked "that's the beast, isn't it?"
He said yes, they had returned the President to the White House after a health care event at the AARP.
"We come here all the time" he said.
I asked how much it costs to fill the Beast.
"We're just topping it off" he said. "We never let it go close to empty, but we fill it with the Ultimate."
$2.88 a gallon here, and a lot of curious onlookers.

I can't believe that the White House, nor any of the other Federal buildings in downtown DC have a POL point.
If AF One is any indicator, they are very picky about fuels and testing. I can't believe that they would just buy fuel for the Beast off the street.
Interesting report though.

Isn't that special. Developing a set pattern or routine.

Op Sec??
Kinda hard to hide all of this happening at your corner gas station.
I too am suprised at the use of a commercial gas-n-go, "Ultimate" or otherwise .

I don't believe it either. It may have happened as reported, but it could just be a "domestic terrorist" fishing trip. Identifying a common route and fuel type is pretty strange.

Random stops at any quality commercial gas station for this task or letting people know the SS only uses hi-test fuel in their hard cars doesn't bother me - but setting a pattern and then acknowledging it publicly sure does.

I am with you Richard. DC does have Fed POL but not enough to cover everything the the Fed has rolling around.

My small experience with the secret service impressed me with their professionalism, at least out here in the sticks. I'm inclined to think that his remark may just be misdirection.

I am wondering if it might be a sting to see if anyone tries to tamper with the Ultimate tank at that gas station.
Stranger things have happened.

About as strange as the two Dekalb County Cops who typed the President's name into their car crime computer? Can you say Red Flags and busted right quick?
Was the Southern Cops version of "Hey, watch this!"

I had a small experience with the Secret Service when I gave them a trial device(unable to mention) and he confirmed the story that it really did happen when Mrs. Clinton handed the Secret Service guy her heavy handbag to carry. He refused because he told her he had to have his arm/hands free to protect her. He was transfered immediately for doing his job......... The Clintons had the story suppressed and denied that it never happened, but he said it was true and the agent did the honorable thing and did not rebuked it.............
