Somalia says: Let us handle the pirates
Edmund Sanders, LA Times, 14 Apr 2009

Somalia government leaders say they could deal more effectively and cheaply with the piracy problem off their shores if the international community would provide funding.

OK lets program a few MTT's and ship in a lot of material support (Trucks, weapons, uniforms, ammo, etc, etc, etc) Then field the new unit and see what we get. ? ? ?

We get either a bunch of well dressed (For a few months) bunch of guys that will sit parked on a street corner and extort money from the locals or a new well equipped bunch of thugs for some warlord. Then they can protect the Pirates at their home ports since the Pirates pay better.

RICHARD:

You just don't understand. These arent really pirates. Just ask the Reverend Al Sharpton what these poor mis-understood youths really are:

I almost spit coffee across the keyboard when I read the thread title.
