melon brains

I like to play with my food. No realy, I do. I do illusionary food.
Ya know.. it looks like one thing and is really another.

Take for example "apple eggs" take a fresh boiled egg, peel it.. smash the pointed ends gentley to an apple shape. Let sit till cool. Its really important to do it while so hot it almost burns your fingers..you do have to peel the egg. Hopefully it will peel clean and smooth.
Next take red and yellow food dye. Cover the egg with yellow dye. Then a bit of red. The idea is to make it look like an apple. Put a clove stem in the top and butt then a pair of mint leave.. an apple egg. I made 172 two weeks back for valentines day dinner for national gaurd company. The dye has to be
put on at the last minute though..

I play with marzipan a lot.. shrimp, tacos..and so on..

so today my dtr sent me this... melon brains.. awesome.. gotta find a way to
use this for an event or dinner..

Tango Chicken

Armymom, You'll need a friend to accomplish this...

2 21/4# Chickens
S & P
Canola Oil

Method:
1. Oil then Season the chicken
2. Each of you Stand the chickens up by hold them from behind with each hand just above the thigh.
3. Face them towards each other and begin moving them to imagery tango tunes. Afterwards...
4. Roast at 350^F for 1Hr more or less.....
When we have done this in the restaurant, we name the chickens. So when they are served we can scream... NO, NO. No....she eating Pedro. It's Hilarious!!!

oh god... what a great idea.. thank you..

I do something known as a subltey or illusionary food.. it loooks like one thing and is another.. Marzipan is a favorite substance..we have done shrimp, tacos.. pizza... apple eggs <---made with boiled eggs...

Last Feb we did our anual feed for the National Gaurds that we can round up.... 172 of them plus thier families... near the end of this feast..
We had roasted a suckling pig, of course laying down.. but his head very erect... and a duck... head and feet in inact... Ducky was placed ontop of the pig astride... a small american flag like a cap.. flying googles on him... and someone had made feather wings for the pig.. Titled.. "when pigs Fly'...
I made a replica M4 out of marzipan..complete to the desert tan and green colors for its cammo.. I understand the pig was tasty... I missed it.. but have photos around here somewhere.. oh yeah... there was a sign on the platter pointing him to
Afghanistan.. It was a huge hit.. only heaven knows how we shall top ourselves next year. Of course the two culprits might or might not be there.. Olwen is leaving for an extened tour of the eastern provinces (aka Europe) and I might be a bit further south... one never knows though... oh good pedro, pedro..
