Dashole premature withdrawl

BMT,
My wife just told me that someone on CNN just said that Obama is a victim of his own stringent requirements for appointment to his cabinet –

Yeah so stringent that had it been a Republican President he would still be looking for a Sec State, Sec of Treasury, Dep Sec Def, AG, etc etc..... The hell that would have been raised if any of the infractions of the above mentioned nominees had been republicans. Liberals would be rioting in the streets!!!!

I can just picture Pelosi. Reid, Murtha, et,al. halting all Congressional activity over just one, were it President Bush. Biden would pontificate for weeks, mostly with both feet in his mouth.

Daschel's action speaks well of his character.......sort of. As for POTUS after G W Bush...well he is beyond reproach from the media, and well above the fray he has created.

Dang I hate this CRAP!!

On this issue I don't think he is above reproach. the NY f*ing Times had a front page story calling for his name to be removed from consideration, as well as an editorial stating just the same. There have been, albeit a small amount, of liberal newspapers that have jumped on this one. The new press secretary hasn't had an easy time of it either. Especially when he pointed out that Obama has been rated as having the most ETHICAL administration in the HISTORY of our country. Give me a break.

I honestly think there are going to be some liberal news organizations out there that will jump on the news as it comes. Unfortunately many of them won't, and we will be stuck relying on Foxnews etc, and we all know how liberals feel about that news organization.

Speaking of Foxnews. Glenn BEck was on with Fox and Friends this morning and had some pretty good ideas about what to do about all these politicians not paying their taxes. First on the list was an audit of all White HOuse employees, the second was an audit of every member of congress.

I don't want to come across as jaded...but IMO the only difference between Democrats and Republicans currently holding public office is the spelling of their party affiliation.

I agree wholeheartedly. I am hoping Micheal Steele will be able to help foster the change the GOP needs so this is no longer true.

I really can't argue about Daschel's status, if any of us did what Daschel did, we would be in a world of hurt...with fines and jail time.

I did see Glenn this morning, and agree. Perhaps a prespective, IMHO, would be to look at the BHO administration as a used public toilet bowl. At the moment, Daschel is the only clean dram of water in the bowl. Put most of us on this site near the flush "thingie".........problem solved!

YUP!

It really does seem that all the elected and appointed government folks dance to the tune of their own agendas. The rest dance to the "party" agenda. I have to wonder what life would be like today if the elected folks represented the electorate?

I also wonder what life would be like today if we had a media that reported the news, and not media opinion?

My $.02.

While Geithner, Daschle, and the other tax raising non-taxpayers skate, Jesse Jame's ex, porn star Janine (Lindemulder) James, is going to prison for 6 months:

Quote:
Janine James, former wife of celebrity motorcycle builder sentenced for tax evasion

December 31st, 2008

Former wife of motorcycle celebrity Jesse James and Penthouse model Janine James has been sentenced for tax evasion.

Janine James, who also appears by the name of Janine Lindemulder, was sentenced to six months in federal prison for tax evasion and ordered to pay almost $300,000 in outstanding taxes. The sentence dates back to August 2008 when Lindemulder pleaded guilty to federal charges of willful failure to pay federal income taxes totalling more than $200,000 in back taxes. She had made a down payment on a $647,000 house and bought two new vehicles despite knowing about her tax debt.

According to news reports, Janine James was ordered Monday to live in a residential community corrections center for up to six months after her release from prison and to serve one year of supervised release.

Janine Lindemulder became Janine James when she married West Coast Choppers founder and celebrity motorcycle builder Jesse G. James in 2002. Their tumultuous relationship was seen in the Discovery Channel documentary Motorcycle Mania 3 which featured the couples marriage ceremony as well as an insight into their troubled times.

The two split up while she was pregnant in 2003 and she later gave birth to Sunny James, on January 1, 2004. Jesse James would go onto date and marry actress Sandra Bullock.

Janine James' attorney claims the prosecution arose more from her celebrity status than the tax obligation. She has until March 10th to report to prison.

Hmm, no I disagree. He paid those taxes a month after he was tapped...he only came forward because he knew he was caught. My guess is he was "asked" to make the decision to withdraw.

No question in my mind that's what happened despite what Robert Gibbs said, really more the way he didn't say what he said, came off as a liar to me.

It would have been better IMO for the one to just man the F#$% up and fire Daschle himself and actually take the high road instead of just talking about it. By accepting the withdrawal he admitted his mistake, it's better for Daschle, makes him look better in the long run, but the one looks like a jackass for his poor judgment, and he knows it.

"I screwed up," Obama declared.

"It's important for this administration to send a message that there aren't two sets of rules — you know, one for prominent people and one for ordinary folks who have to pay their taxes," Obama said near the end of a day of jarring developments, little more than 24 hours after he had said he was "absolutely" committed to Daschle's confirmation.

"I'm frustrated with myself, with our team. ... I'm here on television saying I screwed up," Obama said on NBC's "Nightly News with Brian Williams." He repeated virtually the same words in interviews with other TV anchors.
Yet that's exactly what he's said with his nomination of both Geitner and Daschle, they "forgot" to pay taxes, that's ok how about a cabinet position instead of penalties and jail time, no double standard there.

2 whole weeks on the job and he's already floundering, failing to make the hard but ultimately correct calls, cabinet members dropping like flies, pushing the largest pork filled socialist bill in recent memory.... wow.... now that's change alright, believe in it, sure, you can't make this stuff up. Man it's going to be a long 4 years.

so when will they sure up the "two sets of rules" that allowed Geitner to keep his position. Hell, if any of the cabinet choices should have been tossed out in the street it should be Geitner.
