We are used to them here in the midwest, and am curious if any others have been through one, and their survival techniques/stories?

Severe weather possible in the Plains
7:29 a.m. ET 10/17/2007
Mark Avery, Meteorologist,The Weather Channel

A severe weather outbreak, including the possibility of some damaging tornadoes, is expected over parts of the Southern Plains today.

The primary threat today will be near the Red River Valley northward in North Texas and Oklahoma into the Central Plains, with tonight's severe risk moving east into Arkansas and far northern Louisiana.

A strengthening area of low pressure and strong upper level winds will aid in the development of severe thunderstorms today and tonight, moving eastward into the Mid-South tomorrow.
