10th Group check

Howdy all. I was recently contacted regarding a person that claims service in 10th Group that has raised some red flags. On the surface everything seems to check out, however this individual claims to have been awarded the Silver Star but is not mentioned anywhere to have been awarded it. This is of more importance than mere curiosity as this individual is seeking to enter into a business relationship using his military background as part of his "resume". I was hoping that somebody would be able to confirm whether or not this individual is representing his service properly. Of course I will not post his name in the open in the event he is the real deal to keep his name being dragged through this, but will send it via PM. His timeline is as follows:

Quote:
I was with Signal Company 10th SF at Ft. Devens, Mass. From 1977 until 1983 than at Bad Toelz, Germany 1983 till 1990.
I attended and graduated Ranger School the summer of 1973 than served with the 1st of the 75th at Ft. Stewart, GA. Before heading off to the Q course
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Also, I am happy to provide any of my credentials to prove I'm not just a bum off the street seeking this information. Thank you for your time.

Fuck me. I believed that I followed all pertinent directives and went back and re-read the rules that are posted. I sincerely apologize if I have breached the board etiquette as a guest in your house. Please point me in the right direction so that I can avoid future infractions.

We don't do that sort of thing here. If he is using his service, you should ask him to provide verification.

The SFQC Bulletin Board - Please Read

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) Forum of Professional Soldiers ®.

You will find many SF personnel here, posting and exchanging ideas, as well as people with an interest in the SFQC. This is a relatively unique opportunity to interact with actual SF personnel, rather than posers and pretenders who seem to be at every turn these days. Anyone on this site who claims to be SF and who has been here for very long is a bonafide Special Forces Operator who has been checked out.

You may wish to ask questions, post articles, or share information with SF Personnel and others who have a common interest in Special Forces. Some may be interested in joining the ranks of Special Forces. Before you begin posting and asking questions, please take a moment to review the following.

This is the SFQC forum of this site, and it is our home. You are welcome to come in and read all you like. Due to SF training, they tend to be tolerant of others, but even that has a limit. This also means that they are not obligated to waste their time answering your questions, replying to your demands, or listening to your opinions. You have no rights here, except the right to leave. If you persist, and are determined to be an annoyance they will not be nice to you, and eventually you will be told to leave. Should you choose not to do so, one of the admins will close out your account and/or lock your IP for access to this site.

If you are a new member visiting this forum who is SF qualified, please contact one of the Mods or Admins here at your convenience. Your credentials will be verified, and if everything checks out, you may be invited to join them in the restricted area of Professional Soldiers ®.

If you are going to try to pass yourself off as a BTDT in here and you are not, you will not last very long and your departure will definitely be unpleasant.

In order to ensure that your visit is a pleasant one, the following information is provided:

If you do not know the difference between SF, SOF, SEALs, Rangers, etc., you need to become conversant before you post. Please do some research.

If your topic does not pertain directly to the SFQC, or you are unsure, do not post it here. You will probably be told so pretty quickly, perhaps in a direct manner, and the admins will move or delete it.

For OPSEC, PERSEC, and other reasons we will not go into here, it is very difficult to do a “poseur check” for an unknown internet entity on Special Forces personnel. Do not ask us to do so casually, and explain why it is important that we check this individual out. Your personal curiosity or desire to “out” them is NOT normally a good justification.

The Special Forces Qualification Course pipeline is long and arduous. About 80% of applicants fail to earn the beret and tab. Frankly, if you are not an athletically inclined individual, of above average intelligence, self-motivated, and a real team player, you are highly unlikely to succeed. Be honest in your assessment of yourself. If you take an 18X contract and fail, you will be an airborne infantryman for five years with a possible worldwide reassignment. If you are in the Army and come to SFAS, your unit may not appreciate it. If you are still interested, you should first visit the Go Army website above. Check any other pertinent sites. A Google search will answer almost any question you can come up with. Do a search of this site for the topics of your interest. Note that there is an SFAS and SERE Forum here. Then, you should speak with a recruiter. Finally, if all other resources are exhausted, you can ask your question in the appropriate forum here. Trust that we have seen enough good and bad questions on this site to know the difference.

Do not post articles you may be unsure of, unverified internet rumors, contentious or trolling comments such as asking which is better, SF or SEALs, personal boasts, requests for information on techniques, tactics and procedures, classified information or questions, OPSEC or PERSEC concerns, etc. In fact, if you are smart, you will probably gather intel and lurk for a month or two before posting anything. Your first few posts should probably not be questions, or in any way inflammatory.

As professional soldiers, we are always looking for promising young soldiers to take our places. We only want the best to ensure that our legacy remains untarnished. If you think you have what it takes, do a little research before you decide. We are looking for soldiers who have drive, determination, and situational awareness. Due to the limitations of the internet, we can only judge you by what you post here, and the info in your profile. If you come across in your posts as lazy, or a jerk, you will probably be treated as such.

Good luck, and enjoy your stay.

TR
