Al Gore III - makes a dad proud

His dad can be proud, his son was driving a Prius.

July 4, 2007
Al Gore’s son arrested

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) — Former Vice President Al Gore’s son, Albert Gore III, was arrested early Wednesday morning in Orange County, California on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department told CNN.

Gore, 24, was allegedly driving a Toyota Prius at 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway at 2:15 a.m. when a police office pulled him over. The officer reported that he smelled marijuana and a search of the car yielded less than an ounce of the drug. The prescription drugs Valium, Xanax, Vicadin, and Adderall were in the car as well, police reported.

Gore was booked into a Santa Ana jail under a $20,000 bond, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Gore III completed a substance abuse program in 2004 after he was charged with possession of marijuana in Maryland after police observed him driving without his headlights on.

He was ticketed for reckless driving by North Carolina police in August 2000 when he was clocked going 94 mph in a 55 mph zone. Military police arrested him for drunk driving near a military base in Virginia in September 2002.

At least he was driving a Prius.

I wonder what the carbon footprint is at 100 mph?

The weed was organic, but were the drugs maunfactured green and distributed by a discount prescription plan?

Like father like son. Rules for you, but not for me.

I heard last week that the Prius had a LARGER Carbon footprint than a FULL SIZED HUMMER!!!!

The energy required to mine the Nickel and Cadmium plus transporting it to China and Japan then back to here puts the whole vehicle way over the Hummer!!!

Kids will be kids. I am no fan of Gore at all, in fact I really despise his Michael Moore attention getting persona. But let’s be honest, all kids do things to embarrass their parents. Heck even the Bush twins had problems with the law.

I disagree.

If I had been caught, or if my kids were, driving 100 mph on a public highway, much less packing a basic load of drugs (and I am NOT a public figure), it would be a great disappointment, in addition to some pretty serious consequences at home.

IIRC, the Bush twins were underage drinkers. Let everyone here who tried alcohol before the ago of 21 pile on.

I may have driven fast on occasion, but NOT while high and with a car hauling drugs. That is different terrain entirely. Very interested in the source and quantity of the meds, since he was a known substance abuser.

Bad parenting, with regular demonstrations of arrogance, disregard for the rules, and hipocracy, perhaps?

Fair enough. I do know that when you sprinkle in poliitics, it seems the left rides the right hard on stuff like this (bad parenting, loose homelife, hypocrisy) and the right rides the left. Kids do stupid shit and the parent have to deal with it.

Maybe because my parents raised 4 great kids, but I kind of put them through some rough times from 14-19. So like I said some kids will just do stupid stuff. To lean on the guy because of his political beliefs while his son fooked up is -- well, maybe now is the time for me to STFU.

Let's see:

The Bush twins got caught drinking underage with fake ID's. Anyone care to share with us what age you were when you took your first drink ? or your first fake ID card ?

Jeb Bushes daughter illegally called in a prescription for Xanax, a controlled substance known as a benzodiazapine. She was arrested at the 24hr pick up window by local authorities. She used her doctors DEA # and knew how to actually talk the talk but still got caught.

Every single Kennedy has seen time behind the wheel under the influence and or under the influence of narcotics and or sleeping pills. At least one women lost her life to Teds alcoholism.

Now we've got Al Gore III with controlled substances, driving under the influence, and with marijuana in his possession. How many times has this kid been arrested ?

Perhaps it's time that most politicians stayed home and actually fathered their children. Al Gore could start with putting more energy into his sons addiction problem and quit bothering the entire world community with his 90 minute Power Point presentation

Maybe Al Gore should put together a Power Point presentation on reducing drug dependency and alcoholism.

Read the article, he is 24 years old and a grad from rehab, driving 100mph on a public highway, with a car containing dope.

I don't think the dumb kid excuse is going to work anymore.

If the Bush twins had done this, it would be front page above the fold in tomorrow's NYT. As it is, they will chalk it up to a youthful indescretion, a substance abuse problem, and Republican drug dealers, if they can find one.

The energy it takes to make the batteries is even less than what it takes to dispose of them. Nuclear waste is more manageable, but of course you will never hear about THAT.

And that is why I like my diesel VW - economy, durability and power - plus it passes as a ULEV for emissions.... I'd love to see a Prius on the Cooke City highway in Wyoming/Montana... I'm not sure it would make it up the Bitterroot Pass.

maybe the Prius is fueled by alternative fuel stuff we haven't considered yet.

For Al Senior's sake I hope the weed was at least certified "USDA organic".
