I've also got a M1911 from 1919 and a Remington 870 with an aftermarket stock and pistol grip, but I don't have them with my at the moment so my M&P-15 will have to suffice.

The K98a/K98K portion of my Mauser collection. The empty slot has since been filled with a 1936 JP Sauer.

What do you think of the FSP RIS II?

Is it unbalanced? Would you use it again if the flat RIS II was available?

I love it, balances and handles great, weighs 8.5lbs with a loaded mag of 75gr. The RIS II is quite frankly, the best damn rail I ever put my paws on, having the bottom rail tucked up higher makes all the difference in how it feels and handles.

Now to answer your question about using the standard m4a1 flat top RIS II, if I could do it over yeah that is what I'd probably use. All my 0-300 guns have always had a standard front sight. I always preached about their durability and had the 14.5in dd barrel with fsb laying around for awhile, but after I put this build together I shot a friends 12in with a continuous flat top rail and aimpoint, it makes a big difference not having the fsb in your sight picture. I understand why the sopmod block 2 guns have the flat top rail, it's a lot cleaner sight picture. This gun has been 100% reliable though with the failzero m16 bcg and h2 buffer, including several hundred rounds of auto fire, mostly using crap wolf polyformance ammo. It's perfect for me.
