If I may indulge with a treasured family quote... as a child I discussed the Normandy invasion with my great uncle. Uncle Matt couldn't swim, was terrified of water, and was on two landing craft that were sunk inbound to the beach.

"Son, sometimes you have to teach yourself how to swim. In my case it wasn't pretty, but I'm here and the water ballet critics aren't."--Uncle Matt.

Courage - a perfect sensibility of the measure of danger, and a mental willingness to endure it. -- William Tecumseh Sherman

It certainly speaks toward the Warrior mindset. The willingness to not quit when your body wants to.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. (R.A. Heinlein)

kind of reminds me of some people around here
