IEDs and suicide car bombs have caused over 60 percent of all American combat casualties in Iraq and 50 percent of combat casualties in Afghanistan, both killed and wounded. So when the Senate voted in 2005 to spend $213 million to buy Up-Armored Humvees to better protect our troops, Mitch McConnell voted no. Sen. McConnell turned his back on our men in women in uniform.
