Somebody from 3/5 sold a story to Soldier of Fortune magazine shortly after they left the Army complete with pictures of their former A-Team. Can't remember if any names were included with the images. Anyway, when the former teamates who were still on active duty saw that issue, they were enraged. This would have been in the early '80s. Knew a few people in that story and would like to see which issue it's in.

We used to call that periodical "Soldier of Fiction".

Interesting trip down memory lane. I actually have some of the original photos from some of the Afghanistan articles, since my organization sent some of the people who wrote them, like David Isby, to the Pakistani/Afghan border.

There is a bit of self-awareness to be found in some places. There's a 1984 article on a botched attempt to recruit and train people to overthrow Desi Bouterse's regime in Surinam "The Dogs of War"-style. The author specifically describes one of the other Americans as looking like the kind of guy who buys everything advertised in the back of Soldier of Fortune.
