Students Choose a Patriotic Theme For Dance…

Wasn't it TS who asked "When do we declare America dead?"

Well, I guess you can say she's on life support now.

This is NU-FVCKING-BELIEVABLE !!!!!

Quote:
Students Choose a Patriotic Theme For Dance…So Their School Cancels It Because It’s ‘Offensive’

A Massachusetts high school is having a serious debate over the theme of a scheduled dance.

According to WHDH, students at the school in Lexington said that the school administration canceled their ‘American pride’ dance because it may exclude other nationalities.

The ‘American pride’ theme received the most votes from the Lexington High School dance committee. Despite this, the administration is standing behind its decision, saying it’s are willing to tweak the theme in order for ‘everyone to be included.’

Assistant Superintendent Carol Pilarski defended the administration’s decision:

“Given the diverse demography of our community it was suggested by the advisers that the students come maybe national pride theme so they could represent their individual nationalities.”

Students, like Sneha Rao, expressed surprise:

“People consider America to be a melting pot, so the fact that it was even considered offensive is what people are a little surprised about.”

The town of Lexington is famous for being one of the birthplaces of the American Revolution. The Battle of Lexington and Concord, the first engagement between British troops and American colonists, took place there in 1775.

If their countries of origin were just as good a place to live and be proud of as the U.S., why are they here, and not back at home?

Those men who put their lives on the line at Lexington and Concord and who fired the shots heard 'round the world must wonder what we have done with their legacy.

Here is the link with the emails, phone number and extensions to the Lexington Public School staff directory.

Drop them a note or give them a call and let them know just how WE THE PEOPLE feel about their asinine decision.

American Pride

American Pride & Other Nationalities

Do they have students who are not American citizens?

Or are they saying the Hyphen-Americans would feel left out of an American Party.

Oh, and go fuck yourself Massachusetts, your entire state offends me. Using the term "New England" does not include those from old England. What if I prefer "new Scotland or new Germany? You non-inclusive hypocritical yankee fucks...

I always appreciate your reserve when commenting on these subjects.

Hopefully the Superintendent also is refusing and state and/or federal funds so as to not offend those benefiting from our system who don't identify as American. Fucking morons....

Prom-munism

At least the Prom-munism, a Communist-themed high school prom dance, was changed to just a prom. Though, it appears the backlash was from outside the school district.

It is Commachusetts, you know home to Kerry, the Kennedys, Barney, Liz Warren, morphed from the days that WE all know from the Boston Tea Party, Lexington and Concord and the shots heard around the world ... those brave men and women have turned over in their graves at their state and its representatives.

Well now, looks as if the school administration caved in and "listened to the students" and the original patriotic themed dance is back on.

Quote:
In spirit of Revolutionary War, students win right to hold “American Pride” dance

Patriotic teenagers in the birthplace of the American Revolution held their ground and fought back attempts by school administrators to cancel an “American Pride” dance on April 10 and replace it with a more inclusive event.

Students at Lexington High School in Massachusetts said the administration had canceled their plans for a red, white and blue dance because it excluded other nationalities. Instead, the administration suggested a more inclusive “National Pride” dance.

“It was suggested by the advisors that the students come in – maybe (a) National Pride theme so that they could represent their individual nationalities,” Asst. Supt. Carol Pilarski told television station WHDH. “Maybe it should be more inclusive and it should be ‘National Pride.’”

Word of the administration’s objections to an American-themed dance spread across town like the shot heard round the world.

“(It’s) a lot of hypersensitivity to being politically correct,” one student told the television station.
“People consider America to be a melting pot,” said another student. “So the fact that it was even considered offensive is what people are a little surprised about.”

Principal Laura Lasa told me the April 10th dance had never been canceled. They merely wanted to “dialogue” with students about inclusivity.

“We were in a conversation with the kids about how the theme would be presented so that we could make sure that it was inclusive to all students,” Lasa said. “they took that as being told they could not.”

In other words, the grownups in the room tried to talk the kids out of paying homage to the red, white and blue.

“We want to make sure kids do not feel they can’t go to a dance because of whatever the theme is,” she said.

Over the weekend, Lasa said administrators listened carefully to the feedback they received and on Monday, March 23 they decided to let the kids stick with the “American Pride” theme.

“We’re supporting that student decision,” the principal told me.

Notice how she phrased that – the “student” decision?

“We’re going forward with supporting their theme of American Pride,” she added.

Again, notice the emphasis on “their” theme? It’s not the school’s theme. It’s the students’ theme. Heaven forbid the administrators be caught trying to promote American patriotism.

“We’re being mindful of the fact that we want kids to have pride in America, and also the fact we have students from all over the world that move to Lexington,” she said.

First it was the Red Coats – and now the good people of Lexington have to fight off an invading horde of un-American educators.

Where’s Paul Revere when you need him – riding through the countryside shouting “The liberals are coming. The liberals are coming.”

Which is why I think it is better to give the stakeholders of an academic institutions the opportunity to work things out for themselves. By attempting to elevate a local issue to a national stage, some Americans have undermined the students' ability to solve their own problems. They will never know if their victory was because of what they did or if it was because of the public outrage.

It is fashionable in many circles on both sides of the aisle to complain about kids being "entitled" and yet it is okay to take away their opportunities to fail and to succeed.

My $0.02.

Or, maybe, "elevating the local issue to a national stage" is what actually prompted them to take action.

Just my opinion but leaving children to "work things out on their own" when dealing with adults like Assistant Superintendent Carol Pilarski is what allowed the Pied Piper of Hamlin to march off with a town full of children.

The only difference between liberal academia and the Pied Piper is the way they are dressed...
...most of modern academia is obviously using a pipe when they deal with Americas youth

Public opinion obviously carried more weight with the administrators than the opinion of their students. The students were not undermined by outside interference, they were bolstered by it.
