And then in the next moment came across an item that today is Chuck Yeager's 96th birthday. Damn, man! Happy Birthday Sir and thanks for still walkin' the planet with us! The contrast made me smile.

96 years old, Happy Birthday General! This is my Chuck Yeager story. After the Right Stuff came out and I knew who Chuck Yeager was I thought it would be nice to get him as a speaker for our local Veterans Day dinner. I got a hold of directory assistance out in California and much to my surprise his phone number was still listed in the phone books. I called the number and discovered that the General was in much greater demand after the movie and I did not get to visit with him and he never spoke at our dinner. But I had the most wonderful visit with his wife Glennis, Mrs. Yeager passed in 1990.
