Spotting Scopes

What would you recommend for a budget-friendly spotting scope, preferably $250 or less? My usage will be limited to range work at 300 yards and less, and I'd like to keep most of my money in reserve for good rifle optics. Most of what I've seen discussed here is very high-end.

Thank you.

Saving up more money for a better scope.

What are you trying to see?

Okay, I've got a Nikon and it looks pretty good.

Till Peregrino shows up with his Kowa, that is.

You can get something in that range, but you will either not use it as much, will not be as happy, or will eventually replace it with a better one.

Shooting groups off the bench, and not much else. I have a new carbine and 1-4x variable power scope coming in, and want something that will help me to get it zeroed properly and test out a variety of initial loads.

I don't think you're going to see holes at 300 - I know I can't. Not all of them anyway. Of course it depends on what target you're using. Hell, the walk will do you good...

You can with a .50.

At 100, any of the cheap ones will work fine.

Out beyond 300, mirage permitting, only the better ones will work well.
