Mickey Rooney

We were in the Chicago O'hare first class lounge a couple of months ago, Mickey Rooney, his current wife, and Son were sitting there, I said Hi, we chatted, Nancy joined us, and mentioned I was retired military.

Mickey proudly told me that he was awarded a Bronze Star by Gen Patton (WW2), at that point Nancy told him that I was awarded XXX, for flying 3 1/2 tours in VN...Mickey got to his feet, saluted me, and said "Thank you, Sir, and God Bless you". Pretty sweet moment, which I had forgotten til I read the post re "The Bridges of Toko Ri", in the "Green Beret" movie thread.

"[QUOTE=x_sf_med]Hey RL-
Have you at least seen "the Bridge at Toko-Ri" - and when are you going to answer? You never even asked for discovery time or a continuance."

Damn, T-
I didn't realize I was going to make your day by asking that question of RL, but really glad I did - great story!

He seemed like a hell of a nice guy. Of course I bragged about Nancy, I believe she showed him a copy of her latest book, they were impressed and he gave me a couple of his cards and asked me to email him. I haven't done so, probably won't.
