Heads up for the guys and gals fighting the good fight:

Uniform Swap for Deployed Soldiers
Week of March 23, 2009

The Army Direct Ordering (ADO) program is for Soldiers serving in Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom to exchange worn and ineffective pieces of Organizational Clothing and Individual Equipment (OCIE) at no cost to Soldiers. The program covers more than 45 items of OCIE, but it will not cover the Individual Physical Fitness Uniform until April 15, 2009. An individual Soldier can enroll in the ADO program via Army Knowledge Online through the Kentucky Logistics Operational Center website, or units can enroll as a whole. For more information contact your unit supply sergeant or unit representative.

I just got some stuff from ADO; t-shirt's, socks, and name/rank/u.s. army tapes. I didn't have to turn anything in though, as near as I can tell each soldier gets X number of dollars per month deployed towards basic uniform items. Pretty slick deal, I love new socks.

This was available while I was deployed in 2007. Unfortunately in the 13 months I was deployed and tried to get new uniforms, not once did I ever receive anything. I hope the program is working better now.

We got new stuff after we had been in country 180 days. You were limited to about $300, maybe $200 AFAICR. When I picked up my stuff the supply wench told me I had to turn in my old ACUs. I kinda forgot to do so. Most units didn't bother to get to old ACUs back.
