A local solider who lost his life in service to his country will have a local funeral before being given a hero's burial with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C.
Staff Sgt. Joshua J. Bowden, 28, of Villa Rica died Aug. 31, in Ghazni, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire while on dismounted patrol in support of a Special Forces Operational Detachment.
Bowden's body was returned to the United States Monday, arriving in Dover, Del. accompanied by a full military honor guard. Douglasville Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Director Phillip Harrington confirmed Wednesday that the 2003 Alexander High School grad will be brought home for a local funeral.

Rest in peace, SSG Joshua Bowden. May loving memories bring strength, comfort and peace to friends and family left to walk this world without him. Until reunited...
