US Troops leave Seoul

"US ends 70 years of military presence in Seoul as it moves thousands of troops into a new $11bn base 45 miles further south, out of the range of North Korean artillery shells. "

I guess what's left of the troops at Camp Casey will be moving South also. It's been 40 years since I left Camp Castle and the 2D Engrs.

Hooker Hill in E-Te-Won is going to close up shop and become a ghost town! SO many memories of fried shrimp, potatoes and onions from street vendors wrapped in paper cones made from soldier's PCS orders. Liter bottles of "OB Beer: and massive mugs of "Jungle Juice" at Club Boston, Journey, Kansas, Zeppelin or any other name of a US Band that was popular in the '80s.

Camp Greaves back in 92 but I heard we had pulled out of there quite some time ago. Hooker Hill and the street vendors hold some fond memories. Polly's Kettle House drinking Soju with pineapple juice and the Nashville Club.

Camp Hovey, '78-'79, Toko-Ri. Heard they handed over to ROK, interesting place. Top said that we could say we did our PT over the bridge at Toko-Ri.

Or, we could remove the missiles that are in range of us. I think I'd probably remove all the people and things around them as well.

This was a long time coming.

I think 20 miles will be out of nuclear blast range if they that far away from Seoul. Missile range, forget it.

Camp Casey has been a ghost town for some time; Camp Humphreys has been the home of the 2nd ID for a few years.
