Socialist California Corruption at It's Finest

You realize when corrupt socialist kalif goes bankrupt the rest of the country will be paying their socialist bills.

Don't worry, the FBI will not be looking into this corruption, they have celebrity nude photos to hunt down.

California's bullet train (and biggest boondoggle) is over budget by billions
By Barnini Chakraborty | Fox News

It’s billions of dollars over budget and seven years behind schedule, and appears to have no plausible way of living up to its goal of getting riders across the state in three hours or less.

Welcome to what’s arguably the nation’s largest infrastructure project and California’s biggest boondoggle.

The highly hyped bullet train has been a challenge from the start. No one thought it would be technically, financially and politically easy, but the way the project has been mishandled has some Californians fed up and demanding answers.

Just this week, the California High-Speed Rail Authority, the organization charged with overseeing construction, reported that the cost of the first segment had dramatically risen – again.
“The worst-case scenario has happened,” admitted Roy Hill, lead consultant on the project.
Since its start, this hot-mess express of a project has been plagued by delays and has blown through every single budget estimate imaginable. And it’ll likely cost the state and taxpayers more in the coming months and years.

California's project will be both the slowest bullet train in the world—and the most expensive. The Rail Authority cut costs by using track mixed with conventional rail, which means the train won't reach the speeds they promise. Coupled with a sinewy route that winds its way between endpoints, that means it will never go from Los Angeles to San Francisco in the promised 2 hours and 40 minutes.

California's Interstate Highway 5 runs the length of the Central Valley and beyond, but it's an outdated 2 lanes in each direction. It's plagued with hours-long traffic jams every time there's an accident, which is often. Nearly all of California's commerce is trucked up and down that highway. (I used to truck it with my dad in the 80s and it's not changed at all.) It should have been upgraded to 4-6 lanes each way years ago. Where's the budget for that, Kalifornia??

A year ago we traveled I-5 at Christmas and it took hours longer because of an accident. I had plenty of time to read the billboards every 2-3 miles - billboards that touted how great the new high speed rail would be, how convenient, how fast, how much better it was than sitting in traffic on I-5.

That high speed rail money would have been better spent on I-5 upgrades.

That said, it's half the cost of your new Electronic Health Record. 4.3 billion, potentially as high as 9 billion. That buys a lot of paper (for those of us who retired with paper medical records). 17,000 trouble tickets from clinicians.

And after holidays!

This is a leftist attack on automobiles.

Also, I think a lot of this is just a land grab. As people leave the state and crime and homelessness increases people, like me, will be willing to sell their homes for less just to be done with the place. We left $250k to $300k behind just because we were desperate to be done with that state.

I definitely got that impression while sitting at a dead stop on I-5 while a roll-over accident took up both lanes and left traffic nowhere to go.

The feeling was "lets make it so painful for commuters that they'll believe our bullshit about the train and get on board with the high speed rail project."

Then there's the fact (some say rumor) that Democrat Diane Feinstein's hubby, Richard Blum, won the bidding on the high speed rail billion dollar contract through his firm, Tutor Perini. His low bid came in at $35 million per mile.

How cozy for the Feinsteins, having a family project to share like that.

We need a serious reset of government from federal down to stop the nonsense like this.

We need desalination plants and more prisons, not high speed trains.

Diverting winter runoff from the mighty Mississippi might be a whole lot cheaper than desalination plants.

But it’s green, and that’s all that matters.

The only thing green about that project is the dollars that are wasted.

CA needs water and electricity. If they would co-locate smaller nuclear power plants with desalination plants, it would be a win-win situation. But it ain't gonna' happen.

Kali's latest scheme to fleece the sheeple

If I were a businessman in that state I would be looking to move ASAP!

Calling the Trump administration’s tax reform plan a “middle-class tax increase,” two California lawmakers introduced a bill that would force large companies to fork over half of their expected savings to the state.

Somebody heard you.

Quote:
SHERIDAN —Adam Weatherby announced Tuesday afternoon plans to move his family’s well-known firearms manufacturer to Sheridan, adding an additional 65-90 jobs to the community over the next several years.

The announcement — streamed live on Facebook from the SHOT Show in Las Vegas — came on the heels of the State Loan and Investment Board approving a $12,592,090 Business Ready Community Business Committed grant last week for Project Enterprise, which Tuesday’s announcement revealed is the firearms company currently based in Paso Robles, California.

Local and statewide leaders have touted the recruitment as a major win for the state, which has aimed to diversify its economy for decades. Weatherby, Inc.’s move adds to the manufacturing hub that has developed in Sheridan County and includes companies like Vacutech, L&H Industrial and Kennon.

Gov. Matt Mead emphasized in an interview with The Sheridan Press Friday that while the move will add to economic viability of the state and community, the benefits go beyond dollars.

“They are a fit in every way,” Mead said. “They got Sheridan; they loved the people; they loved the community. … It’s not just the economics, the taxes. It’s the people. Sheridan, I think, did a magnificent job showing itself very, very well.”

Weatherby, who was named president of his family’s business more than a year ago, said the company has been looking for a new home for about three years.

Weatherby met with Mead at the 2017 SHOT Show and continued conversations with the Wyoming Business Council to move things forward. In May, representatives from the company visited several communities around the state and fell in love with Sheridan, Weatherby said in an interview with The Sheridan Press on Friday. The city’s relatively mild climate paired with the backdrop of the Bighorn Mountains and easy access to outdoor recreation sealed the deal alongside the grant.

Weatherby informed the employees of the company a couple weeks ago, letting them know the move was based on approval of the SLIB grant that will be used to construct a building up to 100,000 square feet in size for the manufacturer. SEEDA will own the building initially and lease it to Weatherby with an option for Weatherby to buy the facility down the road.

In addition to the state grant, an in-kind match of $1,960,200 for Lot 1 in the Sheridan High-Tech Park and $322,874 in cash make up the local financial commitment to the project via the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority.

“We want to be ambassadors for Wyoming and the outdoor industry,” Weatherby said. “There is a lot of potential and a lot of incentives for folks in the industry that could end up moving; there could be more that move to Sheridan. We hope to be pioneers in that.”

I'm sure Gov. Moonbeam's plan to add billions more in taxes (following passage of latest tax reform legislation) to punish those "evil" corporations had nothing to do with solidifying the decision.
