U.S. to reopen embassy in Somalia
The United States, seeing new hope for Somalia, will reopen it's diplomatic mission in Mogadishu which it closed 23 years ago as the East African country descended into chaos, a senior U.S. government official said on Tuesday.
Drank a few beers and had a $5.00 lobster dinner there back in '85.

Reuters issued a correction. We aren't reopening the embassy there. Rather, we will soon appoint an ambassador to Somalia. The ambassador won't be based out of Somalia.

My thoughts as well.
If someone offers you an Ambassadorship, and then tells you it is Somalia, do you take it?
If so, are they really your friend?

Mog...
Having been there lately, one might be surprised at some aspects of of the city's infrastructure growth, especially near the seaside near the "old cannery".
Then again, one can still have their ass handed to them, if after making the wrong turn near downtown...
iI fully understand the comments based on dated perceptions, but positive movement still exists.
The rest of the state of former Somalia needs to be addressed based on the portion being spoken of.
