Forced rehab: A solution for Australia's grog addicts?

Forced rehab: A solution for Australia's grog addicts?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-24465989

"Australia's Northern Territory has a serious drink problem and has introduced some of the world's harshest measures to deal with it. Drunks can now be forced into rehabilitation - and jailed if they drop out.

Like many Aboriginal people, Alison Ferber doesn't drink. But there's no part of her life that isn't touched by alcohol......."

It's interesting that in trying to find a solution you see folks lining up in not quite what you would expect sides.

Sad but also interesting how the indigenous peoples of Australia suffer from poor resistance to alcoholism just like the Indians do here. I guess because our ancestors consumed alcohol over the centuries it gave we caucasians of European descent a much higher tolerance level.

Regarding the court ordered rehabilitation, that's unfortunately what it sometimes takes people to accept the fact the fact that they have drinking or addiction issues.
