28 Glimpses Into North Korea’s Technological… Prowess?

Unfortunately, it's not an April Fool's joke. Their depth of psychological conditioning in the DPRK knows no bounds - See the pop-up book of the US soldier hatcheting a child.

And so it goes...

By now you may think that North Korea is only good for nuclear bluster and general insanity. But! Beneath that strange veneer lies actual technology, architecture, and design.

Some of it's just a little more polished than others.

Why isn't this in The Comedy Zone?

You know those are the only smart phone, tablet, digital camera, video camera, and credit card terminal in all of North Korea, right?

Some other highlights in my opinion.

5) Not one, but TWO Tyvek suits? Holy shit! I guess you don't absorb radiation through your face...

That very illustration is a recurring theme with them for quite awhile now, couple of Kim generations at least.

I like the ol' Power Wagons (you can keep the papier-mache' rocket), reminds me of passing convoys in the DDR back in the day. Hey, wait - that design looks familiar. Did the East Germans have a yard-sale?

It looks like a Socialist’s orgasm! Everything is so neat and perfectly aligned with all the humble masses obediently following instruction from Big Brother.

Every picture had in it's caption "Pyongyang", except for the group on the tail on the hillside. But I'd bet that was right outside the city limits.

In the bus picture, the streets sure were empty of other vehicles.

Sure the technology seen might be from the 80's, or what we consider "outdated", hell, ICBM technology has been around since 15 May 1957, and they're now just getting around to it. But even the chubby neighborhood kid can do some damage with a sling-shot.

Interesting proposal from the WSJ

Some snippets:

Pyongyang blocked South Korean managers and supplies from reaching the Kaesong Industrial Complex last week, and on Tuesday the North's workers "boycotted" the special economic zone. This is one more part of Kim Jong Eun's plan to create a crisis to force Seoul and Washington to sue for peace by paying blackmail to Pyongyang. Instead, South Korean President Park Geun-hye should seize this opportunity to declare Kaesong a misguided experiment and shut it down for good.
...
Kaesong might have a better claim as a model for the North if it followed the South's labor laws. Instead the companies pay wages directly to the government, which lets workers keep a small fraction. That may still be more than most in the North earn. But then the workers are also hand-picked by the government, no doubt for their political loyalty.

Interesting shots, one wonders as to the depth of the development...prob focused in any military venue and more veneer in other areas.
The Soviets were very good at that too until they fell apart.
However, never underestimate.
