No Place to Hide by Glenn Greenwald - This book is about more than Edward Snowden. It also teaches and informs the reader about various abuses of power including how the governments of major nations control the information that the media is allowed to report. I cannot put this book down and I highly recommend it.

"The Road to Guilford Courthouse" by Buchanan.
The best historical novel I've read about the Revolutionary war in the Carolina's.
Lots of well documented 'partisan warfare'.
Well written and with info on the personalities of both sides.

"The Legacy of Jihad - Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims" by Andrew Bostem

An analysis on Jihad along with Sharia both historical and modern. The author further goes into how it(Jihad) will never end for Muslims.

Warrior Healers The untold story of the Special Forces medic , by Leonard D Blessing Jr

I've found it to be the single best resource I've found yet on early SF medical training and it's evolution over time.

It's also a great resource on early SF in general as well as providing some texture I've never read before about pre-White Star Laos.

Children of Hurin by Tolkien

Read it this weekend while camping out in the woods.

Set many, many years before the Hobbit and the LotR series.

While a good read it's very dark. You keep hoping the Hero's life gets better but it doesn't. The last two chapters are a real bitch.

Just finished City of Thieves by David Benioff
One of the cowriters of the Game of Thrones show on HBO. One of my favorite novels I've read in a while.

Currently reading Empires of the Sea by Roger Crowley. Pretty gripping for a history book. It mainly follows the naval contentions between the Ottoman empire and Europe in the 15th century.

Opening up The Only Thing Worth Dying For by Eric Blehm tomorrow after work.

Going to start A Peace to End All Peace by David Fromkin once I wrap up Empires of the Sea this week.

They Fought Alone, by John Keats

A book about Wendell Fertig leading a couple of Americans and a heap of Filipinos in their guerilla war against the Japanese in WWII.

I'm a big fan of the self-organized, self taught guerilla organization case studies and particularly about one of the fellas who helped get US Army SF off the ground in the 50's.

I THINK I've got pretty much all of the well known books and PDFs of dissertations now about the guerilla war in the Philippines.

American Guerilla by Mike Guardia (about Russell Volckmann)
Shadow Commander by Mike Guardia(about Donald Blackburn)

are two quite good ones.

The only one I know to be missing is Lapham's Raiders, which is a bit pricey in comparison to the rest.

While I've read a fair few books and dissertations about the Jedburghs/OGs and the early planned/prepared application of UW, I'm probably more intrigued by the self-organization/innovation/improvisation displayed in the Philippines.

Especially since it seems like they survived and thrived in such austerity in spite of MacArthur and his staff.

I've seen a few people recommend some books I've been re-reading lately and thought I'd give a "+1" on them. Though it's likely some of you took part in them or had brothers that did. Either way, hope they've found a way into your libraries.
