Seeking G2 on Sri Lanka (Business and Security)
Hey folks,
Our company's growing, so we're considering setting up an IT operations team in Sri Lanka, I would greatly value any direct intel, or recommended intel sources, (friends, colleagues, websites, etc) that anyone may have, both business environment wise in general, as well as security info if you have it.
We've got a lot of local knowledge flowing our way, but you can never tell how much of it also considers our foreign perspective.
We're considering Sri Lanka for two main reasons
- Although we trade in North America, and Europe, the majority of our revenue comes from Asia / Pacific, so Sri Lanka is well located.
- Since the end of the civil war in 2009, the country has moved mountains both legislatively and infrastructure wise to become more foreign investment friendly, so it has been scoring top of the charts on the various "Business Processing Outsource" rankings. Yet it still only has a small yet growing foreign business community.
- Our Operations Manager is Sri Lankan, and well connected there.
Any info / thoughts / questions welcome.
Cheers
S

Your company should consider sending a former SF guy who has been there before to gather atmospheric intelligence for you. Atmospheric intelligence is information collected in country, on the ground, face to face. It is not only identifying key players at governmental, local, and often tribal levels, but it is also understanding the sentiments of the people, their needs and concerns. Sri Lanka is a complex place with a lot of scars just below the surface.

Sri Lanka Easter Sunday attacks
Three Catholic churches and three five-star hotels bombed on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka. Death toll currently at 137 (some saying 160), with over 400 wounded. Both numbers are expected to rise.
Hotels: Shangri-La; Cinnamon Grand; Kingsbury (all in Colombo).
Churches: St Anthony's Church in Colombo; St. Sebastian's church at Katuwapitiya in Negombo; a church (not named yet) in Batticaloa.

One commenter on Breitbart wrote something to the effect: "The prime minister of NZ issued a statement asking everyone to don crucifixes and sing "Ave Maria" in solidarity to the victims of these blatant, highly-coordinated, multi-target terrorist attacks on Christians. Oh, wait. No she won't."
And while Theresa May had no issue calling the Christchurch mosque attack an act of terrorism, which it was. She could only muster the term "act of violence", which, in comparison to what happened in NZ, was pretty much, "Meh."

THE LIBERAL VIEW ?
T. May a typical liberal POS sees the world & it's bad actors in their limp wrist fashon. That is the reason for continued "TERRORIST" attacks. Only one way to deal with this that is effective.
