Eglin AFB

My son is being assigned to 7th at Eglin before the end of the year and I was wondering if anyone currently assigned there could provide some info. He's an E-5 and I was wondering if they commonly put SGTs in barracks or if they reside off post.

Thanks in advance for any information you could provide.

Did your son just graduate the Q course or is he a support MOS? I only ask because the barracks are typically reserved for support soldiers. Green hats get to live off base and receive BAH once they are assigned to Group.

Glad it all worked out. Good luck to your son! I just hope he learns how to deal with all that Crestview traffic going into work and coming home. It was so bad I moved down towards Niceville.
